  1. ANGELAF, did you send the letter you mentioned on 7 aug? Any progress? Have started my own thread for my action against Ulster, would love to know how you're getting on. Cheers.
  2. Starting a thread to record my progress against Ulster Bank. State Of Play so far: 9 June: sent subject access request 25 August: eventually received duplicate statements. Have drawn up a schedule of charges. £2244.07 from when the a/c was opened in 2002 up to 25th May 2006. I'm due a statement for the last 3 months in a few days time. There are a few more charges for this period, so I'm going to wait til I receive my latest statement, and add these charges to the schedule before sending off my initial request for a refund. I have one question which I hope someone will be able to answer. I have scoured other threads for an answer but haven't found one - A lot of the charges are for £30, £37.50 etc and I have no problem asking for these back. But I also have a lot of "irregular account charges" which I have included in the schedule. These charges are for £10, £11, £12 and £13 each (seem to have gone up £1 every year!) Are these charges also considered extortionate? Could Ulster argue that they legitimately reflect their admin costs? Should I consider leaving them off the schedule and only claiming the £30+ ones? This would bring the amount claimed down by about half. Any thoughts welcome!
  3. The number I used was on the original letter I received from Dublin - +353 (0)1 6084000. It's a switchboard, I just asked for Elizabeth Gilmore and was put straight through. She was quite friendly - she asked if I was calling from the Bank Action Group (!!), I said no I'm an account holder. She promised to call me back, which she did an hour or so later.
  4. Besty, I sent my DPA request to Ulster Bank on 9th June, got the letter from Elizabeth Gilmore dated 27th June saying it had been escalated etc, finally got the statements (poor photocopies!) yesterday on 25th August. Elizabeth Gilmore appears to exist, by the way, as I spoke to her twice last week chasing up the statements. Apparently the statements were originally posted to me on 8th August, (ie they waited the full 40 days from their first letter to me before posting - they should have sent them within 40 days of reciving my request.) I didn't receive these (if they were posted!). Duplicates, as I said, were received yesterday. Am claiming just over £2000 in charges from Ulster. Sending my 1st letter claiming a refund on Monday. Will start my own thread over the weekend to mark progress.
  5. I have just sent of my DPA letter to Ulster Bank, asking for all charges for the last 6 years. The laws apply equally to N Ireland, you take Ulster bank (not RBoS) through the small claims process in the NI Court Service. Maximum claim for small claims is £2000. I've searched the boards for other members' action against Ulster Bank, and haven't found any yet, although a few NI members have taken English banks (Abbey and Halifax I think) through the NI courts. Just to complicate my case, I actually now live in Scotland. I'm hoping Ulster will settle before it comes to court action, as I'm unsure whether I can take them through small claims in Belfast when I live in Scotland. The maximum claim in Scotland is £750, and I anticipate my bank charges are in excess of that. I will cross that bridge if I come to it, but am determined to follow this through to a conclusion!!
