  1. "Hi, My son has just had his vehicle clamped by Kent Parking Services whilst he was delivering a Pizza to a customer within a gated residential block of flats. When he returned, less than 2 minutes later, he was given a ticket by a male (edit) from Kent Parking who then said my son had to pay a fee of £226 for the ticket and the clamp release fee. (£85 CASH for the ticket and £120 plus Vat for the clamp release fee, apparently the £120 plus vat is paid to another company [we have their details.]) My son tried reasoning with this male and said that "I have only been gone a couple of minutes. I was delivering a Pizza" and .." how can you charge me a clamp release fee when I have not been clamped yet" However he was abrupt and would not listen to any reasoning and said that my son was still getting clamped. He stated that my son had to pay up and would not let him go. After about 10 minutes another firm arrived and clamped his vehicle. He had to pay the £85 CASH at the scene or they would not unclamp his vehicle. I arrived on the scene to try and talk to the man and reason with him. However he was not there and we had to wait 20 minutes for him to return. When he did he immediately went into attack mode (verbally not physically - standard practice I suppose)and was rude and unhelpful. Saying that unless the £85 CASH was paid there and then he would arrange for the vehicle to immediately be towed away thereby incurring further costs. Reluctantly in the circumstances the £85 was paid. Surely there is a time limit before he can put a clamp on? The nearest place my son could have parked that did not have any form of parking restrictions was in a large DIY outlet about 1/4 mile away. Happy customers and cold Pizzas don't go together! If it had just been a simple parking ticket and the vehicle had not been clamped then we would not have paid it. Morally we feel that this is extortion. The 'correct' (I assume) signs were displayed Can you please advise us? Many thanks" Any help please??
