  1. Hi everyone I haven't been on the site for a while since I had a "problem" with CEL about a year ago. It seems to me that they are still up to their tricks and the main way to get back at them is to ensure that they do not make enough money to survive. Having read some of the posts since my sojourn on the thread (page 24ish) I can confirm to later contributors that you can get these things cancelled but generally only by ensuring that the retailers concerned get involved (asuming it is a retail site car park) I had J Sainsburys cancel mine in double quick time. Short of starving these companies of cash another way of shifting them may be to get up a head of steam with retailers, refusing to visit their stores if they employ such companies to manage their parking (and letting them know it). Retailers are somewhat nervous of their reputaions and in these Credit Crunch times, of their revenues as well. To all of you still "under the cosh" from CEL etc. keep ignoring those letters remember each one takes them time and money to produce and post and moves them one step closer to bankrupcy. Stay firm and don't pay.
  2. Hi all I haven't been on the forum for a while (since Page 24ish!) but thought I would just check how things were going.......... Frazzled mum appears to have been having a bit of a time of it but again it appears that holding ones own seems to send these parasites away eventually. I got them off my back by complaining to the retailer, J Sainsbury in my case, at their head office. Perhaps if more of us used this tactic then we may stand a chance of getting these companies driven off the carparks. If you feel the need to write do not write to CEL write to the retailer. Otherwise hold your resolve and exercise your shredder!
  3. looking forward to hearing how you get on - about time we fought back.
  4. No just customer services manager at Holborn. No need for the big guns!
  5. It seems to have worked. 72 hours later I have a cancellation notice from CEL. A painless way of getting them off my back with the added advantage that I have highlighted to the retailer that association with these companies can harm their business. I am sure that my own single complaint will not have them thrown off but immagine if everyone did it. Best of luck all of you with your various approaches and I will keep an eye on the fotrum whilst being extremely careful in supermarket carparks!
  6. Hi everyone I have on balance just ignored the letters, received "Final demand" today Too busy to write the template letters and whilst they might make me feel better I am sure as others have said, that they have no effect. CEL know the situation and must get hundreds of similar letters (just look at the forum) and will just ignore them. I did however write to messers J Sainsbury before finding this forum, saying how disgusted I was that they were uing this sort of tactics in their car parks whilst building bigger stores and adding cafes etc. all to keep people here longer. That association with companies like CEL could only do them harm and that I wouldn't darken their door again etc. etc. This had almost immediate effect - response from head office requesting proof that I was in their store (which I had) then a further letter from the Colton store itself asking for the notice saying they would "sort it out". Not sure what that entails but I have gone one step frther to suggest that paying or cancelling my ticket is of limited use to them, far better to require CEL to remove their equipment from the carpark and if they need to control it, use pay and diplay or entrance barriers like any reputable company. I will let you all know what happens. If enough people boycot retailers who use these car park "management" companies and make it extremely visible that they are doing so ,letters to head office or better still the Chief Executive tend to work - check who the CEO is on the internet and then find his / her home address in "Who's Who" if you want maximum effect! then they are likely to use their considerable muscle to deny these companies business. let's chase these parasites away
  7. On balance guys what is your opinion? 1. completely ignore all the letters threats from Newlyn etc. or 2. Reply using the templetse on the stickies Have not had the time to bother yet but have written to J Sainsbury (head office) saying that I am disgusted and will not darken their door again etc............... I will post any response. How abpout CEL, do I bother to respond?
  8. Hi This is my first ever forray into the world of internet forums so bear with me......... it has taken a few minutes to get registerd and understand the links. Like tictactoe's mother I was "caught" in the Colton Retail park parking [problem] having spent over 3 hours there (all in Sainsburys actually!)Upon receiving the notice I had already worked out that I would respond with many of the comments regarding inappropriate use of CCTV number plate recognition, invoices that look like parking tickets etc. but can see that this has all been done before and to no avail. I will almost certainly follow previous advice, refuse to pay and refer debt collectors back to CEL saying that the invoice is in dispute! I may actually spend the £25 offered by "Law Answers" on their site to get them off my back as I know I will continue to be frustrated if continually harassed by further letters! Has anyone any experience of their "service"? Next - how to damage these pirates............... is there perhaps a way that through these forums we could find out where these guys operate and simply boycott the premesis (Or make sure that they do not catch people by warning them)cash shortfalls will quickly cause them to fold! I for one will not use McDonalds in Gatwick looking at the number of postings and will certainly NEVER visit Colton retail park again. As another thought, how about us contacting the retailers involved. I have just written to J Sainsburys saying how disgusted I am that a company if their standing is either using such enforcement companies or accepting their use on sites where they are operating stores. I am sure that a company that large must have some sway to get CEL slung off! As these retailers are encouraging customers to stay longer (bigger stores, cafe's etc)then this is a real problem. If we highlight this and vote with our feet then I am sure that CEL can be sent "bust" by their own clients. Retailers are very conscious of their reputation and I have threatened never to visit Sainsburys again until I receive a satifactory response. Immagine hundreds of such letters to messers Sainsbury's McDonalds etc! good luck everyone with telling CEL where to get off.........
