They say my original payment was late so they added £20.00 late fee to my account after they cashed my payment and added a monthly interest. Because i did not know about this as i had no letters sent last month about my balance or about my cheque being cashed i didnt know i had to pay a late fee so then as i didnt pay got charged another late fee of £20.00 and interest for the month of april which i have jus recieved 2 letters about.

I have had a similar experience to ROSAMUND i hate store cards t but i kinda got landed with one that i thought if i jus pay off straight away would be fine so when i recieved a my first statement at the end of february i sent of my payment in full almost straight away. I did not recieve any letters and assumed my account lay at 0 for the next couple of months untill yesterday when i got a letter saying had an account balance of £21.91 which i am late on paying so they have added a late fee of £20.60. Apparently the £21.91 is a late fee due to my first payment being late which sounds like a [problem] to me as i sent it off quite soon after i recieved my first statement but how am i suppose to pay off the first late fee if i had recieved no letter about my account balance in march. is there anything i can do other than accept it pay it off and cut up the card

Hi i am new on here and stupidly allowed some store girl to register me for their store card. As soon as i had done it i decided that when i got the bill i would pay it off n cancel my card, the paying off bit i did but i never got round to cancellin it. 2 months later i now recieve a letter sayin i am late on payin £42.50 in my account which was bigger than my original bill in the first place. so i ring them and they said my first payment was late, which it wasnt as i was so jumpy bou havin a store card that i paid it in accordance to the first letter they had sent and so they added a late fee of £21.91 which i was also late for payin so added another £20.60 on . Now i am a student and cant mess about with money i had no idea about these late charge and thought my account balance was 0 no letters were sent about them recieving my first payment or about the first late charge . This is wrong isnt it. The man on the phone said to write a letter to the customer services then ring them a few days after other than that there is nothing he can advise. Can anyone give an idea on what i should put in this letter to make it sound serious n they cant mess me around otherwise i think i will just be forced to pay. Any ideas ????
