  1. I checked my credit report today and Otelo has obviously got in touch with O2 as the default has been removed along with the charge for £188. I think so long as your persistent you can get these defaults removed.
  2. I didn't think it came with a catch because I was told I'd be on pay as you go, I was blatantly lied to. I'm writing to them to ask for the signed contract and default, not sure if that will do any good. Is there any other body I could go to to escalate the problem? Perhaps the information commision? Thanks
  3. I wrote to them on the 2nd February explaining the problem, they wrote back and said the debt stands. I then emailed the person directly who sent the letter to reiterate the problem, and she replied with much the same attitude. So, I took advice from the Ofcom website and asked them to reply with their Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme which is a neutral body used to pursue complaints when no resolution can be found, that was last Wednesday (20th) but she's didn't reply with the details. So, I after researching I found out that O2's ADR is Otelo and I went through the online form at their website to lodge an official complaint, and I also emailed the woman at O2 to inform her of this, which she still hasn't replied to. Now all I can do is wait, although the Otelo website said these people must comply with an ADR request, so I think I might write a letter to complain about that.
  4. Hi everyone, On my credit file is a defaulted notice from O2 for an unpaid £187.86 which I'm trying to get them to remove. Months ago when my contract was up, I phoned them to switch over to pay as you go with a different provider, but the call centre employee said if I stay with O2 I'll get £100 credit. Sounded good, so I said yes. What I wasn't told is this meant another 12month contract, so when the bills came in I refused to pay. So this is now where the claim I owe them £187.86 Is there anyone I can turn to who'll help men? It's ridiculous to have my credit rating so badly affected by such a trivial matter. Any help much welcomed friends, cheers.
  5. The account was opened online May 2007, there is no proof of postage, they sent out an agreement to sign and return but I just binned it, yet was surprised they still sent out the camcorder even though they didnt recieve an agreement, the online process gave me an account for £750. Also, tonight I have posted letters to Capital One, RBS and Barclaycard requesting a copy of the CCA with a cheque for £1 and to also write off the debts due to the effect the debts are having on my mental health... will keep you posted! Also, it seems even if I win my battles with these credit companies, am I right in saying it's a whole other war with credit expert to get my credit file amended... I currently have a 'poor' rating which is second last only to a 'very poor' rating... maybe I should just accept no one will ever give me a mortgage in future!
  6. This is was back in June or something, I phoned them and the woman told me it might have got lost during the strikes, and I opened an email dialogue that ended with them saying the matter was closed, I had to pay and end of story. But my credit rating has been affected by missed payments, so I want them to write off the debt since I didnt even sign the agreement. Plus, I've moved since then and they don't have my new address, so Im tempted to not bother letting them know.
  7. Already had a big dialogue with them about the returns situation, the angle I now want to pursue is the trying to write off the debt due to the fact I have signed no contract or agreement, and yet they still sent out the goods. So my thinking was to ask for the CCA, and when they can't produce I then ask for the debt to be written off. But that sounds a little too simple.
  8. I've got an issue with Littlewoods on this thread http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/debt-collectors-debt-collection/127540-my-first-post-request.html It's my first post, I'm not sure it's in the correct forum but I'd appreciate anyone taking a quick look as I'm keen to get some advice, thanks a lot
  9. Hi everyone, my first post! This forum is really great, I've been reading through some of the threads on debt, charges, etc and my heart is warmed thanks to the advice and assurance offered by the forum members. I think it makes a huge difference that people can share their experiences of financial problems. So, I'd like to explain a couple of difficulties I'm having just now, and hopefully a kind soul can offer a suggestion. 1. Firstly, I'm well versed in opening written dialogues with banks and credit companies regarding charges, and I have clawed back hundreds of pounds, so I have total faith in the power of the eloquently written word. But I have an account with Littlewoods, and I'm not so sure how to approach the situation. I'm currently a student, and have the usual assumable tight financial situation. My Littlewoods account stands at around £550 for a camcorder that was returned a good few months ago and got lost in the post due to the mail strikes (not recorded delivery). So Littlewoods say I still have to pay the account, which has not so far been passed to a debt recovery company. However, I did not sign or return the credit agreement they sent me. The account was opened and the camcorder posted out despite the fact the credit agreement was never sent to them. My question is, does this tilt the situation in my favour? I'm trying to get the debt written off, the account closed, and my credit profile restored. Would it work to request a copy of the agreement and if they cannot produce it to close the account? 2. In fact, would it be wise to ask for a copy of the credit agreement for other debts? For example, my Royal Bank of Scotland student credit card debt has been passed to Lewis Debt Recovery for the total of £310.08 despite being in the middle of a communication with the RBS with regard to drawing up a payment plan (I offered £1 per month and then I'll pay the remainder once graduated and in employment). 3. I have two other credit cards (Barclays and Capital One) with limits of about £250 each... is there a method to freeze the accounts and pay token amounts instead of constantly getting charged each month for missed payments? Would it be worth asking any of these companies to write off the debts? Thanks for taking the time to read this thread, and I look forward to any advice. Floyd
