  1. two policemen visited my house yesterday, and traced the other car to a resident on the same street but he was out so they said they would try later - yet to hear anything since. Today I went to the police station to fill in some forms and asked about paint matching (I showed him pictures of both cars and he agreed it did seem very suspect) but he said they were unlikely to do anything unless a) there was a witness or b) there was an accident that resulted in serious injury to someone! Utterly useless, makes me wonder what the point of calling them in the first place is!! It is so frustrating, and worst of all it will be me who has to pay for the damage - well over £1000 worth.
  2. My car (silver) was parked outside in the street, and when I woke up the entire side skirt was hanging off, with a huge black scrape down the whole side. After taking a walk down the street, we noticed a black car with a silver scrape down it which looks to be the culprit. I've reported it to the police who are waiting for this person to return home - was just wondering if anyone else has had a simillar experience, and what my chances are of getting this paid for? I have third party insurance, and the other person left no details. I am pretty certain this other person is culpable but how can it be proved?
  3. I received a reply from them this week, which looked like a pretty bog-standard reply: "we understand your concern blah blah... we believe the charges are fair blah... we would like to wait for the outcome of the current courtcase before proceeding with any action etc" What do I do now? should I demand a more personal letter? go ahead and make a small claims application? a little confused so any help much appreciated!!!

After calling NatWest to confirm, they advised that there were outstanding purchases on the account from the weekend for £10.19, £43.44, £7.50 and £5.99 still to go out, which made sense. 18 Dec - After checking at an ATM at both 8:30am and 7:00pm, £60 was available to withdraw (which I assumed was my pay) and I made a purchase for £57.95 that evening. 21 Dec - A charge appears on my account for £35, along with almost all of the outstanding transactions. After calling to query, they advise it is an unarranged lending fee, and that a further £28 is to be withdrawn on 1 Jan for "payment guarantee". 23 Dec - Another outstanding purchase (£5.99) appears on the statement dated 20 Dec, as well as YET ANOTHER CHARGE FOR £35. If the ATM hadn't shown me as having money (when NatWest clearly knew the money was to go out and was not available), I wouldn't have made the £57.95 purchase and there would have been money for the £5.99 purchase, thus avoiding both £35 penalties! Does anyone reckon I have much chance of claiming this back? And could anyone give some advice on how?
  5. argghhhhh same thing happened to me this week On tues my account showed I had £70 left of my overdraft so I bought some presents - today there is an entry on my statement saying I went over my limit by around £30 and a £35 charge!!!! I rang them earlier today to enquire, and they told me the charge was for 'card guarantee' (payment guaranteed by the bank to the vendor) and that there will be a further £28 charge next month for 'unarranged overdraft' - 63 POUNDS BECAUSE OF THEIR STUPID ONLINE BANKING!!! Never had a penalty charge before so have no idea how to contest these fees...
