Hey All. We were in the process of buying a New Build. And requested and discussed Chancel Check and insurance. Here's an interesting fact about Chancel Check, The check doesnt actually see if you have liability, it see's if there is a potential for a liability. And my understanding from my solicitor is that every house in the country has potential liability, I believe there is a company that will just provide insurance without the check. Not sure on the company. The best bit about chancel Check is its run by CoE the same people who will be claiming the money back off you if the claim off you.

When I purchases my house in March 2006. I was informed I must get Payment protection insurance out by the mortgage company. Fair enough. MAB (Mortgage Advice Bureau) gave little option but to do it through them. August 2007 We sold the house, and cancelled the policy. I get a phone call saying I owe them £200 for cancelling the policy?!? It would appear the terms and conditions stated if we cancelled after 38 mths we had to pay this fee. Now While I signed the form, this will have been while I was signing numerous forms much in the manner of sign here, sign here, sign here. At no point was it explained to me about the 38 months or the fee. Do I have a leg to stand on about complaining to them, or the FSA. I've yet to ring back to discuss this in full with MAB. Just wondered what people thought?
