Ian, I received my claim back from NatWest including interest, charges and court fee. When I submitted my court action I added all the additional charges added onto my account and the court claim. I thought to myself I will not pay the court fee and just submitted the fee into my court action. Hope all goes well for you Fay

Hi Ian, Copy of the letter: Dear Sir / Madam, Re: Claim Number Date: I write regarding your letter dated Date , offering a goodwill gesture of £ of my claim for £ for bank charges, interest and court fees. You state that you hope I will regard this as a genuine attempt to reach an amicable settlement of my claim. However, I would regard the two letters I sent to you over the previous months, before I began Court action, as a genuine attempt to reach an amicable settlement of my claim, minimising costs for all parties concerned. I am not satisfied with this offer, and must therefore respectfully decline. If you wish to credit the proposed sum to my Account, I will however accept this as partial settlement. However, my Court action will proceed until such time that I have received a settlement that I am satisfied with. I will therefore make you the following offer: I will settle for the costs as claimed in my particulars of claim, at the date of filing, i.e. £. If this sum is credited to my Account by the end of business on Date, I will withdraw my claim. However, if this offer is rejected, I will not settle for less than the full amount as stated in my particulars of claim i.e. £ plus interest at the statutory rate as of the date of settlement. I hope you regard this as a genuine attempt to reach an amicable settlement of my claim. Yours Faithfully, I think that even though I sent this letter off on Fri the bank had already processed my claim for the full amount. Let me know if you need any additional help. Good Luck Fay

Hi, This is my first time I am posting a message and just wanted to say thank you for the useful info on the site. My initial claim I submitted to NatWest was on the 16 May 2007 was for £797.00. Natwest acknowledged the claim by responding with a standard letter saying they would review my claim. I waited 2 weeks for a reply before I sent my second letter by which Natwest added additional charges to my account pushing my claim up to £835. Natwest responded to my second letter on 11 June offering a good will gesture of £723.00 which by the time i received the letter I submitted my court claim for a total of £1005.00, this amount included additional interest added to my account as well as my court fee of £80.00. I wrote to Natwest on the 29 June advising that I would accept there good will gesture but will proceed to claim the full amount of £1005.00 To my delight when I got home yesterday I received a lovely cheque in the post from Natwest for the full amount of £1005.00. So now I am happy and can pay my bills
