  1. Chickpea, I'm sorry to hear this. Hopefully the FSCS will be able to help you. I'm sure there must be something they can do. Not having the funds doesnt stop the bank/loan companies charging us. Just thougt I'd post to offer my support, chin up.... you've come this far hopefully someone will be along soon to offer some 'actual' advice. LMC x
  2. Good luck boss-man keep us posted on how you get on. My sar went of today too so we'll see, i'm sure we'll get the same response. I am interested to hear the outcome of our sales conversation just too be sure it was not fully explained about the 5year thing. I remember alot of "get your premium refunded after 3 years etc etc" but not.. "this will add £15k to your loan and you will be paying interest on it for the rest of your life!" Chickpea, good luck, hopefully you will get it sorted soon, a long process but it will be worth it in the end!
  3. Thanks chickpea, hopefully you will get a resolusion soon....... Can I ask, do you still have the loan? Most people reclaiming ppi have paid off/want to settle. I would like to do that, in a few years but still have the loan at the moment. I will send of my sar just now and see what I get back. would be interested to hear our telephone conversations as am failry sure it was not made completely clear regarding the fact that it only lasted 5 years, either myself or my husband would have questioned this, i'm sure or given a quote without ppi added. They will undoubtedly drag it out as long as possible, but I am prepared for this......... Like most of these places, were extremely helpful when we were taking out the loan, not so helpful now though!!!!
  4. Hi there, I'm not entirely sure what is best to do first. I am concerned that I shouldnt be sending the SAR without cancelling the ppi first, but I dont know if I should just send it anyway? I phoned them about cancelling it and they gave me the usual about only getting £170 back, as it is front loaded onto the loan. I sent a letter to explain my reasons for being unhappy and got automated response about agreeing the terms etc etc. Hopefully someone will be along soon to advise us the best course of action. Good luck!
  5. Hello, I have a large loan with these people (£57k to be exact) with an additional £14k in PPI. I believe that this was misold as we were not made aware that it only covered us for the first 5years and that we would be paying interest on it for the next 25years, amongst other reasons!! I am about to send of a S.A.R, but before I start all this I have a couple of questions. I still have the loan (and will do for sometime at this rate) but if I pursue this, will my loan continue as normal? Do I have to cancel my PPI first, even though my rebate would only be 1k and I would still be paying interest on it for the next million years? any advice gratefully recieved.
  6. Hello, I cant help you but would just like to offer my support. I am in the exact same situation as yourself. So good luck and hopefully someone will be along to help you soon......
  7. Oh my God.They are doing the exact same thing to me! I had a loan with them (one which they pretty much made me take to pay of an overdraft) After being charged AGAIN, I refused to pay it and opened another account, phonned and cancelled all me direct debits and asked them to close my account and sent a letter to the same effect. Then after being charged for being overdrawn and a bounced DD for the loan I was phoned by them and told I had to have my DD for the loan taken out of that account. That account is now hugely overdrawn with the same unpaid DD and unautharised overdraft charges and I have no way of paying it off!
  8. Thanks Kurt. I kind of guessed that starting again would be my best bet. I think i'll draft a nice letter to them tomorrow morning. Does anyone know if you can email the rbs with these things or do I have to rely on good old royal mail? I cant see an email address to contact them. L PS I think your right about the the whole adolescence thing too, so I will not complain too much in the meantime!!
  9. Well it turns out I am going mad (I believe pregnancy can do that) Last year when I first started looking at this site turn out I sent of a preliminary letter to the RBS, to which I have just found the response 'fair, reasonable, transparent, blah blah blah' and then I sent off the LBA. To which I recieved a similar letter which also reffered me to the FSA if I wasnt happy. Now bearing in mind this was 10 months ago, and I did nothing about it (yes I know) do I have to start all over? Or do I pick up where I left off adding any new charges? Or can I contact the FSA (as it is well over 8 weeks and I'm not satisfied) now with new charges added? Or do I send them another letter with all charges (old and new) and then take it to the FSA. Or are you all so bored by reading this now you dont care? LMS:)
  10. Well I have been reading this site for months and have finally decided after a few months of vast charges that enough is enough! I already have all my statements (yip, I am that sad) and am currently filling out my spreadsheet! I am in Scotland so understand the whole small claims limit etc. so thought the best way forward is to approach the bank first, then if all else fails go throught the FSA. My understanding is that this may take some time but hey, I've waited this long! I am however unsure as to what my letter to them should be, I cant really threaten legal action because I dont intent to go through the small claims as my charges are over £3K? Any advice gratefully recieved:p
