  1. ok and where is that then? thats 2 replies its going to be moved to an appropriate forum but I cant find it! I thought this forum with all the bailiff stuff would be appropriate?!
  2. i recieved a notice through the door this morning BAILIFF REMOVAL for non payment of council tax. We were previously paying £10 per week to 2 debts for council tax (one at £160 and other £360) but payments lapsed due to moving home. Now we have received this letter. They want payment in full within 24 hour or they will remove goods if we are in or not and no other arrangements will be accepted for payment. Now my first question is when they inicially came round at the previous address they noted things for removal which is fine. But I know those things wont cover the debt (it was tv, dvd player ect). Can they take my husbands car? The car isnt on finance but we live in a village and its his only way of getting to work because there isnt sufficiant public transport (getting the bus and train would get him in about 3 hours late)! They didnt list his car on the list before (plus its only worth about £200!) Also can they take my daughters toys? these werent listed either but im panicking. Can they really enter even if Im not in? Any help would be appreciated!

  4. hi all just wanted to say thanks for the help. We must have an ok bailiff as hes given us a bit more time to get the money together when my husband gets paid! Then we can sort out some payments. Its a big weight off my mind, I didnt think theyd be so lenient!
  5. i think the problem is that it was for a previous address and thats probably why we havent heard anything. Im pretty sure they said it had already been to court. Im not disputing what they say we owe or anything just need a bit longer to get hold of the £120 he is wanting. All ive got right now is money for food shopping which is cut down to bare minimum just now anyway, you know the usual beans on toast etc! I just wouldnt like him to turn up, us not have the money and then them taking my husbands car (not that its worth much) but he needs it to get to work
  6. well i phoned the council yesterday and they said its been passed to the bailiffs and thats it, you have to deal with them not us as we wont take it back! We never had any letters or anything previous to this so turning up on the doorstep the other day was a bit of a shock!
  7. can anyone help me with my problem? Had a bailiff turn up at the door on Thursday and demanding £1080 outstanding council tax bill. Obviously I said I didnt have it and he said in that case I need £200 as a deposit. To which I replied well I dont have that just now either. He said I have a week to get it to him. My husband phoned him when he got home from work and the lowest he will go to is £120 but my problem is that I dont work and my husband doesnt get paid for another 2 weeks yet. Is there any other way around this until he gets paid? Would be grateful for any advice anyone could give me. I didnt let the bailiff in the house if that helps anything? Many thanks Lesley

  9. my partners still got to sign the new agreement which we are thinking of going along to the office today and getting it done so they cant go back on their word again! will let you know the outcome
  10. thought i let people know how we were getting on our initial letters again "had not been received" so we tried another approach, we wrote a letter to the person dealing with my partners account stating another copy had been sent to his boss (both sent recorded delivery) basically telling them it was a stalemate, we werent paying until something was sorted as we had been trying to get this sorted for months and months with no luck. well we received a letter back from them saying thank you for your letter etc, attached is a form for you to fill in and send back to tell us what you can pay on a monthly basis and whatever it is this offer will be accepted!!!!! finally got somewhere with them! we had also stated on the letter we sent saying we wanted everything in writing and done by post because any telephone calls we had and agreements made that way were not stuck to by welcome! i really hope this is it getting sorted now, trying to get all sorts of things sorted regarding finance and welcome were the only ones completely unwilling to help but just goes to show stand your ground and you will eventually get somewhere!
  11. hi all thanks for the replies! ive had enough of it now, the stuff does show as signed for but i think we all know these people have a lot of bloody cheek and completely deny ever receiving anything! weve sent off the letter requesting the payment protection be removed due to being mis sold the policy and it probably wouldnt pay out for various reasons - the main one being my partner wasnt even in permanent employment when all this was taken out! so ill keep this updated to let everyone know how it went! but i have to say until something is sorted we wont be paying a penny for the loan! my sisters partner had the exact same problem and he stood his ground and they eventually took it off! so really its a wait and see on a reply now. the only thing that annoys me is when you are in a sticky situation and need a bit of help they really arent interested. he has offered to lower the loan but wont say how much by and my partner would have to travel miles to go into their office first to discuss this, the guy is just trying to make everything so much more difficullt than it actually has to be! and besides that i think if we can get the payment protection taken off then great there wont be any need to reduce any payments!
  12. My partner has a car with them and he also has a loan, the loan was taken out just before christmas and was told that payment protection was compulsory, i know i know he should have read the documents but he didnt so here we are! we are having financial difficulties at the moment and trying to sort out debts - to which welcome finance are completely disgraceful! anyway they wont reduce the payments and point blank refuse to take off the payment protection, all in all he is paying £168 per month for the loan of £2000 for 3 years which ends up a stupid amount but get this - the payment protection is costing £68 per month!!!!! does anyone have any ideas now because they have refused to take this off what to do next and if he's actually within his rights to have it taken off? Everytime we have written a letter it hasnt been replied to so have tried the approach of sending recorded etc to which they still deny this has been received, what do we do from here? im so stressed and ive had enough now, they are unresponsive as long as they are getting their payments but unless something is sorted they wont be getting any payments as its just not affordable anymore. any help or advice would be grately appreciated
