  1. Not much new to report at the moment except silence from Lloyds: I posted my SAR on the 28 May along with the relevant cheque and so far I havent heard from them or had the cheque cashed. Unfortunately (a mistake on my part) I forgot to send the SAR by recorded delivery so despite the fact they have still a bit of time to respond I think I will send them a little gee up letter in the post tonight (recorded this time). On a side note the SAR I sent to MBNA on the same day as Lloyds has been received (although the cheque not yet cashed) - Standard letter saying they have recieved my complaint (wasnt really complaining, just want my statements) and that they would respond by 4 July (Slightly outside the 30 day limit but I can live with that minor infraction). Onwards and upwards.......
  2. Hi Wednesday - CCA Request? Apologies but what is this? I really must get a list of abbreviations somewhere. I do have a copy of their terms and conditions from around the 2002 mark. As I discovered them on the back of one of their old documents that I found when trying to find the old account number.
  3. Many Thanks Glav...just as well the post office was shut when I went to post the SAR. I will amend the SAR and will attach copy of passport along with supplying the Account Number.
  4. Just a quick start to let people know the background to this claim. I had a MBNA card from around 2000 - 2004. As par for the course with MBNA they started with a low credit limit and before long it was up to £5000. As I was in financial diffs at the time I quite stupidly used up the limit and was then constantly hit with charges which I was never able to pay. Again stupidly as I am sure many people have done I tried to buy my head in the sand but things just got worse. Eventually after having the debt passed to DCA's I eventually managed to get it paid off (Unfortunately some of my others still exist...but at least i am paying them off slowly). Now i feel it is time to start hitting back. I know I am responsible for part of my predicament but I think it is time that the Financial Institutions started to pay a little for their part in getting me into that predicament as well. I will obviously keep everyone informed on this thread on how it is going. 29 May - SAR Sent
  5. I have just decided to go ahead and claim back charges from Lloyds and MBNA (just for a start). I have sent of the standard SAR template from this site and want to do the same for MBNA. Bearing in mind that the MBNA is a Credit Card and not a banking service, do I need to change any of the wording or will it do as it stands..Apologies if this is a bit stupid. Thanks
  6. Having looked through a lot of the forum these last couple of days since joining, I have discovered that while the information is valuable it can be a bit of a mixed bag for those of us over here in Northern Ireland. I dont suppose any of the moderators and more importantly those on the forum from Northern Ireland who have started our completed their claim could start a separate area highlighting any differences in our own procedures?
  7. Have just made the first step in claiming back charges. I have sent my SAR and will obviously keep you all posted as to the ongoing case. I suspect I will need a lot of assistance in this as I I live in Northern Ireland and my bank charges I suspect will be well above the £2000 limit for small claims court and that is even if I dont go down the route of claiming more than the 6 years worth. I also need to claim against Egg, Capital One and MBNA but I am not sure whether to get through this one first or try to take them all on at one go. Any thoughts on that matter?
  8. Many thanks HSBCrusher. Strangely I have helped others start to (successfully) claim against their banks but have never done the same myself. Think it is time to bite the bullet and send off the SAR. Do you know from what date I can claim charges back from. I dont particularly want to look at bank charges going back to 1990 when i opened it first.
  9. Me too...good to be onboard for the ride.
  10. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I can't seem to find it. I was with Lloyds Bank whilst I was in the Royal Navy and then in civilian life up until approx 2004. During this time I managed through sheer stupidity in my part a large amount of debt which was compounded by Lloyds conitnually charging me for unauthorised overdrafts etc. Eventually in 2004 the debt became so large that it was no longer practical for me to service it as when my wages (which where now considerably smaller than when i was in the Royal Navy) didnt even cover the overdraft and the bank charges. Thank many in this situation I stupidly buried my head in the sand and Lloyds eventually sent my account to debt recovery companies who where looking (and still are) for around £18,000 made up of outstanding loans, overdraft charges and the original overdraft. I would estimate that out of the £18,000 around 8,000 was overdraft charges. Now here is the question. I am now paying the debt recovery companies an agreed amount every month but can I still claim back my bank charges from Lloyds? If I could the amount owed would probably allow me to make a full and final offer to the company to clear the account. Or if I claimed and won would the money simply go into some sort of limbo. Any help in the matter would be great in helping me make a decision of what to do. Thanks in anticipation
