  1. I keep receiving calls on my work landline in the office from 0843 2890055 or 08432890053 Its an automated message that bangs on about PPI. I find it completely unacceptable that this company is calling me on my works number. A number that is run by my company and is for business calls only. The only person outside my business network that has this number is my mother for emergency contact purposes. I am getting absolutely sick of these calls. And when I try to press 9 to remove myself from their call list (that I shouldnt be on in the first place), it tells me I cant use that option from my line. Does anyone know the name of this company so I can try and start some form of complaint?
  2. OMG Barclays Bank are absolutely appaulling!! I have had the same problems with these before and payday loans and I am having the same problem again now. I cancelled my debit card on my Barclays account after the card got damaged. I changed jobs and was short on my wages and advised the payday loan company (Lending Stream) of this and received no response. All of a sudden I had 6 different payments taken out of my account by this company on the debit card that was cancelled. When I contacted Barclays they wouldnt do a thing. They said as I had a financial agreement with this company they couldnt recall the payments and I'd have to speak to the loan company to get the money back (yeah right, cos they'd do that - i did try i got the answer of no that i expected). Barclays said the fact that the debit card was cancelled made no difference, because there was an agreement in place with these people, they had to pay them on that debit card. I lost my job last week and had some outstanding loans with both Moneyshop and Wonga. My last wages from my job went into my account yesterday. I got less than half of my monthly salary and it was all I had to live off once I'd paid out my rent and a couple of other bills. I have 2 accounts with Barclays and stupidly transferred the money in my second account (which I now use because of what happened with the previous money lender) across to my original account and wihtin hours I'd had nearly £400 ripped out of my account for both Money shop and Wonga leaving me without enough money to pay my rent. I contacted Barclays (in india as always) and explained to them that the money these companies had taken was my rent money and yes whilst I owe them the money, I was trying to set up payment arrangements with them and I had no idea that this money was going to be taken from my account (i would have never transferred the money if i'd know this would happen) and asked them to recall the payments straight away as the money that was taken was my rent money and I was in danger of losing my home if I didnt pay it. After speaking to 3 different people all i've managed to get from Barclays is that if I get Wonga to fax them a letter saying they wont take the money, then they will look at seeing IF they can recall those payments. But Wonga have to say they wont take the payments (they are still pending on my account) The fact that my home is at risk is of no consequence to these people!! Nothing you say to them seems to make any difference at all! All I keep getting is "We dont have the authorisation". Its an absolute joke!! The problem is to even stand a chance of getting any money back you have to write off to the FOS etc and this takes time and doesnt solve the problem of having no money to live on now. Can i ask the person who wrote to them and claimed the money back from the moneyshop, how long did it take you to get it back?
  3. Well I moved to Barclays because despite speaking to my bank about this several times they did nothing. Natwest can keep their crappy account. I went to see them, wrote them a letter and spoke to my branch manager and they just kept on allowing this company to set up these standing orders and then charging me £38 whenever they tried to take the money out, because naturally the money wasnt there because I moved to Barclays (who by the way only charge you £8 for a returned standing order or direct debit). The way Natwest has handled the whole thing for me was just a p*ss take. Their Fraud dept told me they couldnt do anything and said all they could offer me was "tea and sympathy". I dont feel my money is safe in a Natwest bank account anymore, so I wont be using them.
  4. By the way folks, I reported this company to the OFT and after months of waiting the guy I was speaking to told me there wasnt really anything he could do??? WTF?? They are still setting up these standing orders (you'd think my bank would click after i sent them a leter saying i havent authorised any of these standing orders and keep cancelling them). I have noticed that most of us seem to bank with Natwest?? Which suggests that Natwests security systems are a pile of tosh as they are happily paying out fraudulent standing orders to this company despite all the complaints they are receiving about them.
  5. Thanks! Sorry clicked on the link in your post and it took me to a letter templates page!
  6. This company are STILL trying to take money from my Natwest account despite me informing my bank NOT to let them set up any more standing orders because I havent authorised any of them. My bank have continued to charge me for these standing orders because the money naturally isnt there (i moved banks because of this). This has been going on since the beginning of last year!! Which thread on the Debt collectors forum is it please? There ar a few!!
  7. That all sounds a bit fishy to me?? How would using your credit card perform a credit check on her?? That almost sounds to me as if they are using you as a guarantor, so if they cant recoup the money from her they come to you for payment. When she took the phone out she would have had to have signed a 12 or 18 month contract I suspect?? Did she sign that or did you have to? Or maybe the salesman being crafty to get a sale?? Working around the system so to speak. Sometimes these mobile phone companies take a bank card so they can take a test payment and put it straight back to test the card etc (i know vodafone do something like this when you apply for their phones online). Definitely check the contract if you can and see who the account holder is on it, because if its her, i wouldnt have thought they chase you for the payments?
  8. I have had the EXACT same problem with this company!! And funnily enough I also bank with Natwest who despite me telling them what this company have done and asking them not to accept any future SO's from this company, they still keep setting them up!! I have Trading Standards looking into it for me at the moment and I have drafted a complaints letter to Natwest (i have since moved to Barclays so there is no money going into the natwest account but i keep getting charged for the unpaid standing order i never even authorised) You're lucky Natwest admitted it was illegal!! When i asked ther FRAUD Department about it, they said they couldnt do anything and that all they could offer me was "Tea & Sympathy"....from Natwests Fraud Department ladies and gents!! Charming way to treat your customers!! I would really appreciate any updates on your cases guys so please keep us posted!!
  9. I have had a random call from this company offering me a loan which I was dubious about anyway as I dont remember applying for one. They must have rang me every 5 minutes throughout the day before I eventually answered the phonecall. And after all that he forwarded my details onto Cash Finance Direct who I was supposed to call on a premium rate number to get my laon. But apparently "I get the money back for the phone call", which begs the question...if you ae going to refund me the money for the phonecall, why charge me the money in the first place. I needless to say will not be calling this company because I wasnt born yesterday!! And as I didnt call their company yesterday to go through the loan they have been calling me non stop today!!! I eventually answered the phone and before the guy had time to speak I shouted "**** Off and stop ringin me!!" down the phone. I'd steer well clear.
  10. See my friend had a similar situation and banked with Barclays and they were very helpful and stopped any money going out to the company she had a dispute with as long as there was a dispute going on. I unfortunately bank with Natwest who wont do sh*t. I called their Fraud dept to tell them the situation and the guy couldnt even advise me, he referred me to the CAB. Useless!! I even said to my bank, if the CAB say what they have done IS illegal then can i phone them back and can they do something then? To which he replied "no...basically all you'll get from us is tea and sympathy". Time to change banks methinks. I am waiting for an advisor for Trading Standards to get back to me and I might give the police a call (i even used to work for the Fraud Squad in Birmingham temping) and I will be writing to Watchdog about them and complaining to the financial authorities.
  11. I have had EXACTLY the same problem. They also refer to themselves as Chequebook Loans. I took out a payday loan with this company last year. I was made redundant in January this year and am currently out of work. I have spoken to the company several times and they are aware of my situation and said they would give me a call every month to check on my circumstances and see if I could pay anything. I cancelled my Solo card on that account meantime so they couldnt take a payment on it and had a new card sent out. I found out on Saturday that they had tried to take a £100 standing order without my knowledge, which has consequently sent me overdrawn. I contacted my bank who informed me this company had sent a new Standing Order mandate with my signature dated 22nd June 09. I didn't sign this document!! I called CBL/DCL and they said that they took and old mandate I first signed in the original paperwork and copied it, deleted the date and inserted the new date themselves. Is this legal for them to do that?? They said that the original paperwork stated that if they cant obtain payment they will try and get payment by other means. However I'm pretty sure what they've done isnt right and is illegal!!! The Standing Order isn't even an original it's a photocopy and my bank have allowed it. I am fuming I have spoken to the CAB who referred me to Trading Standards. One of their advisors is looking into it for me so I will let you what they say when I hear from them. However if anyone has any info on whether this procedure is actually legal I would be very grateful as at the moment nobod, including my banks fraud department can be sure.
