  3. I requested a refund of my charges from Nat West and they have written back within the time frame with a refusal of any payment at all. I am now not sure what letter to send them. I am wary about making my own letter up as I am a bit rubbish and think that I may put any future claim at risk. Can anyone impart any advice?

I'm really sorry to hear of the history that has put you into so much debt. I know where you are coming from as my other half lost his business through the actions of another and we ended up in severe debt. We are lucky that we had family to help, but they can only do so much as I am sure you found out. I'm glad that you're getting your life on track and I wish you luck with your claims.

  5. Just out of interest I phoned one of the many companies offering the service of reclaiming bank charges on the consumers behalf. They charge £75 per hour and would want 15% of settlement!!

Well, that says it all really! I most definitely would be happy to donate.

  6. I'd be happy to donate! If it keeps the site up and running for people like me who are clueless and need the help that you guys offer, then it is well worth it. I mean think about it - how much would we get charged for a 'consultation' fee by a solicitor just to get us as far as making a first request for the refund? It would be a shame if this site had to close because it became too popular.

  7. Hi there

Been given this forum address by a friend and just wanted to say hello and that I have decided to take the bull by the horns and try to claim back the excess charges applied by Abbey after a really rough patch when my partner's business had problems. They kept banging charges on our accounts with no letters warning us until one month it was over £400! And of course when that was collected the next month that knocked us even more out of our overdraft so that another £200 charges stacked up.. and so on.... That's the worst its been but I am hoping that once this is finished the refunded money will pay for my fiance's 40th birthday present - a weekend in Las Vegas! Wish me luck!

The DPA request is in the post recorded delivery tomorrow! Watch this space.....
