  1. The basics are that i own a 2 bed flat (with fiancée and 2 little ones) but have to move(various reasons). Have approx £125,000 left on Mortgage and redemption fees will come to just under £4,000. Estate agents have given me a valuation but would expect me to actually sell for in region of £120,000. We can nowhere near afford to buy anywhere (one reason for moving is need somewhere bigger) so will be renting. I phoned A&L earlier but the lady I spoke to wasn't too helpful. She just kept telling me that if I buy again within 3 months of selling I can claim back my redemption fee - obviously that is no good to me as I wont be buying. She also said if I did sell I woud still be liable to pay the mortgage but couldnt explain how (whether it would be one lump sum which obviously i coucn't afford or at its current rate which I still couldnt afford on top of monthly rent for a property). I was assuming that in the first place they would need to give me permission to sell in this situation but I was also expecting them to be more helpful as Im sure they want to get money back and was hoping that they would might agree to some arrangement. Anyway, Im gong to phone back later and see if I can get someone more helpful. Oh yeah - I did go in to my local branch first as I always use to talk to someonoe in there but they don't provide that service anymore and it has to be done over the phone! Anyway, has anyone been in a similar situation and managed to have any success? Thank you.
  2. This is the only other legal way of getting tickets for Man Utd games. I have membership but if I don't get tickets from the ballot for games I apply for, the only other option is to look on viagogo (apart from if a mate comes up trumps with a spare). I expect the club are also (more?) to blame as im sure they take a huge cut. Tickets sold on Viagogo are tickets from season ticket holders who can't make a game.
  3. What justifies the extortionate handling fee? If I sold a match ticket to someone with a "handling fee" as high as theirs I would be labelled a tout. I had already stated that the fees are shown when you buy - but not before (Do you know how viagogo works? Available tickets appear on the website but cannot be sold (therefore "buy" does not appear) until the club has confirmed the game is sold out. It is only at the buy point that you can see the fees. As explained tickets for the big games will go in seconds. why not make the fees available when the tickets are only in the "view" state and not buy. As they know what tickets are on sale prior to them becoming available to buy there is no reason why they can't state the fees. The fees have risen consistenly throughout the year. If you compare October this years fees to December this years fees it is a 34% increase (or effectively 36.5% if you include VAT reduction).
  4. I have been purchasing tickets for Man Utd games from Viagogo over the last year or so and have noticed changes in the prices and the way you are informed of costs. This is what it says on the Viagogo website about the fees for Man Utd tickets: All purchases on the Ticket Exchange will be subject to a fee which is added to the face value price of the ticket(s). This fee is inclusive of all booking fees, handling charges and VAT. The total charge will be clearly displayed before any purchase is confirmed. Sellers will receive the face value of their Season Ticket if and when their tickets sell on the Ticket Exchange. Please note that all fees are shown during the listing or purchase process for you to verify before confirming your listing or purchase. Below are some examples of tickets (and prices)I've bought this year: APRIL 2008 Number of Tickets: 1 Price per Ticket: £35.00 Total Ticket Cost: £35.00 Booking Fee: £8.75 Delivery Fee: £4.99 VAT: £2.40 Discount: -£0.00 Total Charge: £51.14 OCTOBER 2008 Number of Tickets: 2 Price per Ticket: £35.00 Total Ticket Cost: £70.00 Fees, Handling and VAT: £32.31 Total Charge: £102.31 DECEMBER 2008 Number of Tickets: 2 Price per Ticket: £35.00 Total Ticket Cost: £70.00 Fees, Handling and VAT: £43.12 Total Charge: £113.12 My main queries are for the following: 1. The website does not state what the fees are or how they are made up ANYWHERE. 2. The only time you see the fees are when you are about to confirm your purchase (so only when the tickets are "live". Although you can see the available tickets when they are not live, it doesn't show you the fees.). 3. Relating to the above point - becuase when these tickets become available they literally go in seconds, if you stop to look at and calculate the fees you will lose out on the tickets. Shouldn't the details of these fees be made available earlier (beofre the tickets become available?) 4. The prices!!! If you look at the purchase in april, if this was for 2 tickets it would have worked out at about £96. You can see in Octoberl this is £102 and more recently in December £113, all for "£35 tickets". Surely this is touting?! Why the big increases in fees?! 5. The April tickets give a breakdown of the costs. October and December don't. Is this to try and disguise their continual increase in fees? Surely this cannot be legal?? I have written to Viagogo several times asking them to explain what there fees are and asking why this information is no longer broken down on the statements we receive and all they do is write back to me quoting the text from their website (the text i added near the top) and they also say the fees are clearly stated (which they no longer are!). What can be done about the blatant touting and also them hiding the info in relation to their fees? Regards, Martin
  5. No, I used my bank card - maestro.
  6. Thanks for the reply. I want the tickets and this is the only legal way of getting the tickets. I just thought this might be along the lines of the bank charges - charging admin fees for nothing - I thought this might be a similar thing.
  7. Anyone used this, isn't this just touting?? I bought 2 tickets from there, face value £35 each. After the admin fee the total I had to pay was just over £102.
  8. Thanks for the replies. We made the default removal a condition of settling the original bank charges claim but when we got the letter back saying about the trial we continued to pursue asking for the default to be removed (see letter in original post). I got part of the template for this letter somewhere off this site (the bit with the legal wording etc) so I was hoping it would be something that someone has done before. We haven't lost anything in the way of interest it has just meant that we've only been able to get a mortgage on the basis of my salary and not both our salaries which means we own somewehre that doesnt really meet our needs and what we should be able to afford. Thank you.
  9. Sorry Lula. I didnt make this clear. The default was placed on the account in 2005.
  10. Thanks for the reply Lula. She did originally claim bank charges but that was put on hold because of the trial case etc. What is more imprtant to us than the bank charges is the default as this is stopping us from getting a bigger mortgage. Withe regards to the default this was noted on a credit report received from Experian (but the report didnt say which of her Abbey accounts it referred to) and this was pursued as a comepletely separate matter from the bank charges. I understood (from other threads) that if Abbbey had no proof of sending a default notice they had to remove it so i purused this as somethin. Is there an alternative way to pursue this as we have also claimed for bank charges? The main thing is that after 2 recorded delivery letters, several phone calls and emails we are getting nowhere. Any further advice will be appreciated. Thank you.
  11. Me and my partner were were trying to get a mortgage together but couldnt becuase my fiancee had a £400 default notice (which was settled). I have written to Abbey (copy of second letter i sent letter pasted after this ) but the reply I got back was nothing to do with the letter I sent. I got a reply that started off with something along the lines of "I note that you have asked for a copy of your bank statements and we assume this is in relation to a request to make a claim against bank charges...". I have emailed 3 times (including sending an email to Sheena Small) with just a reply saying that the email will be passed on to a team to look into this. This was 2 weeks ago. What can be done now? Thank you, Martin Letter to Abbey; Antony Turbitt Manager, Banking Services Customer Services (Banking) PO Box 297 Bradford BD1 4YR 18 October 2007 ACCOUNT NUMBERS: ******** and ******** (Sort Code: ** ** **) Dear Sir/ Madam After recently obtaining a copy of my credit file, I was concerned to note that a "Default" notice had been placed against my account. I sent a letter (recorded delivery) on 5th September to which I didn’t receive a response. I then sent a follow up email to which I received a reply (TRACKING NUMBER: ) asking me to phone 0845 9 724724 to resolve my query. I called this number on Saturday morning (13th October) and spoke to a Customer Advisor who tried to help but we didn’t really get anywhere. She couldn’t find any record of myself being notified about a default in the first place and then suggested that I pay £10 to have all my bank statements sent to me, which I don’t need as I already have my bank statements. As I said in my original letter and email. I would just like to get this resolved as although I am paying half towards the mortgage my fiancé has we need to move somewhere bigger but can’t unless this default is removed. I would still like to bank with Abbey but all I ask is that this default is removed please. I know at the time the credit report says the default was placed on my account I was overdrawn. That was at a time when I had just finished college and wasn’t working. I have now been working full time at Hampshire County Council for over 2 years and my accounts have been fine. I have no recollection of ever receiving a default notice and if you are unable to remove it I would then ask that you please substantiate this information. 1. You must supply me with a true copy of the alleged agreement to which you refer. This is my right under your obligation to supply a copy of the agreement under the legislation contained within s.78 (1) Consumer Credit Act 1974 (s.77 (1) for fixed sum credit). Your obligation also extends to providing a statement of account. I enclose a £1 postal order in payment of the statutory fee. 2. You must supply me with a signed true and certified copy of the original default notice 3. Any deed of assignment if the debt was sold on. If you are unable to remove the default I would request that this data is provided to myself within the next 14 days, if you are unable to provide this data then I must insist that the default notice is removed from my files as unsubstantiated. Yours sincerely
  12. Thank you. I sent off a request and they phoned me to say they would only give me 6 years worth, was just wondering if anyone else had managed to get statements from further bakc. Cheers.
  13. Has anyone managed to get any statements from longer than 6 years ago? Do you know if this is possible. I know that aruond 1999 to 2000 maybe even 2001 I must have had a couple of thousand pounds worth of charges.
