  1. Many thanks for your swift help. I'll post the CCA tomorrow and report back as and when I hear something back from them.. Sorry for all the questions but is it likely they won't have a leg to stand on etc. whats the general response from a CCA?
  2. Simply jogging my memory, I believe it would probably be three years at the most. So, I will go ahead with the CCA. It looks like - from what I've read - many do not respond to the CCA... so looking ahead... what happens next? thanks.
  3. Thank you very much for your help. Just while I seem to have your attention.... I also am being chased - admittedly through my negligence - by Wescot for a British Gas bill of £50. Is a gas bill up for negotiation like a loan/overdraft etc.? Thanks.
  4. sorry, when you say this, does that mean simply if i've not paid anything within six years it's simply null and void or six years from them making no attempt to reclaim the debt? thanks
  5. Thanks for the response. Just reading through other posts.... it seems debt recovery agencies are up for negotiation. would it be right to think that they probably only paid 10% for my 'debt'? If so, would it be worth writing to them with an offer, stating i'm willing to pay x amount and remove default from my credit rating etc.??
  6. So... my situation.... Apex have sent me numerous letters stating I owe 2,841 for an old Lloyds student current account. I'm happy to pay what I owe but because of the bank charges situation, I believe nearly £1,000 of that amount is unlawful charges. So, after reading on here, do I actually owe Apex the money? I've briefly read about CCAs but am none the wiser. any help on this is much appreciated. thanks
  7. I had the account about four years, opened at the same time as my current account. I didn't pay by DD.
  8. Hi all I am trying to get the account number of my natwest mastercard which I closed in 2007. I have written two letters telling them the situation, i.e. that I have shredded everything to do with the account and do not know the number. I was told to send them as much info as possible (i.e. account limit, my address etc. etc.) which I did. Two letters received by them stating they cannot do anything without an account number. Today, the girl on the phone told me that the information will be archived somewhere but how on earth do I get it? Am I being paranoid in thinking they're making it as hard as posible for me to get this information (as it is for reclaiming charges of course) Thanks for any help.
  9. Well, just to go on from there, I've agreed to pay an amount with mercers which will put my account back with barclaycard next friday and then we will see what happens from there.
  10. Oh, I do need help. I'm going to bullet point my problem so hopefully it's easier to follow. 1. Received £120 from Barclaycard when asking for £346.46 2. Told I accepted as part payment 3. Received a letter stating within 3 days of letter my cred limit would drop to £260 from £600. 4. Heard nothing back from Barclaycard. 5. The sudden drop in cred limit got me into another mess with charges. 6. Sent the same letter to Barclaycard again, heard nothing. 7. Account referred to Mercers. 8. Told Mercers about my problem, not very sympathetic. 9. Still no response at all from Barclaycard - this time asked on letter to freeze account to solve dispute and prevent further charges. 10. Then received letter from Scot Call telling me to contact Mercers or else. 11. Contacted mercers who said pay £52.00 otherwise people coming to my door etc. - who when I told them I didn't believe I owed that money Isuggested sending copy of letters sent to BC to mercers to show whats going on. He actually said to me the account would be moved to ScotCall on monday and I couldnt deal with mercers anymore unless i coughed up. 12. Rang ScotCall who said that wasn't the case but still decided to add that people were coming round to collect the money. Hope that makes some sort of sense. I'm really troubled what to do. I do owe some money to them but confused on how to deal with three parties either not contacting or giving me differing info. Help greatly appreciated.
  11. Hi all - help required! I'm not really up to speed with the charge claims etc. I've got a student overdraft that is about £150 over the limit and have set up a £50 a month payment scheme to get rid of it. However, I've seen they have started adding charges of £215 a month since I set this up!! What on earth am I supposed to do? I'm very worried. Is it worth claiming in the current climate with the claims on hold etc? Thank you.
  12. Hi all. I recently had a part payment from Barclaycard, though I am still after the full amount, and unbeknown to myself, they lowered my limit by around £400. Therefore, I accumulated more charges and wondered what I need to do in a situation where I want to effectively make a new claim and also claim the original amount sought. Many Thanks.
  13. Hi all Well I've been offered £120.00 (I asked for £346.46). I had a look on Money Saving Expert about accepting/not accepting the charge. However, there is not a template letter to send on there. Any advice on how I should go about telling them to shove their £120 (!) and wanting the full £346.46. Thanks.
  14. Hello all. Could someone point me in the direction of the contact details for my Natwest/RBS mastercard? I have searched high and low but cannot find it. Thanks.
