I think you'll have a difficult time with this one, though admittedly I haven't seen the application form. You've said nobody was there to explain it to you but that is precisely the point. Nobody's Missold it to you. If anything you've Misbought it. If you wanted more information the onus was on you to read the terms and conditions and if not clear to ask.
Why did you think that your application wouldn't be approved if you didn't take the cover? If this was inferred by a member of staff then this is fair enough, but it doesn't sound like it was and they can't be responsible for you getting an idea into your head for no logical reason.
Thanks man. I won't bother with them any more.
They had been charging me year in and year out without even telling me as far I can recall.
So that's that then.

Hi, yes,
they sent me a photostat of the PPI summary of cover along with one side copy of the application form.
The form states in one section,
Please enrol me in capital One's Payment protection scheme.
and I had ticked the box.

I need some help.
I wrote to Capital One asking for a refund of my PPI which I've been paying since 2000.
They responded by saying they found no evidence of this policy being mis-sold.
They believe I had sufficient information to make an informed decision to purchase PPI.
The reasons being that Optional PPI was applied to my account because I chose to purchase it
when I completed a postal application fir them on November 18th 2000.
There was no involvement of a Capital One rep and
it was only added as I ticked the box marked Yes.
If I had left it blank they would not have applied it.
Now, I feel I have had it miss old. there was no one to explain it to me,
and I was under the impression that if I didn't tick yes I wouldn't be accepted,
I had a poor credit rating at the time and was pretty desperate.
I didn't know the full extent of what I was getting myself in to and there was no one to explain otherwise.
I also was unaware that this would be applied again and again year in and year out without an option to remind me,
or to quit (which I would have done)
- I was oblivious to the charges in a way and
I was only reminded because they now gave me the opportunity to opt out
(I think after law changes which forced Banks
and lenders to keep their customers more informed with more transparency).
I wanted to ask whether it' worth continuing this to the Ombudsman
and whether anyone else has had similar experiences and any advice hints or tips as to claim this PPI?
Any help advice, pointers or instructions would be most appreciated.
PPI claim rejected by capital One - worth continuing to ombudsman?

a photocopy of the original form i filled in, and a copy of the T&C's which I assume must've accompanied them - this was almost 14 years ago.
