  1. No There were 3 phonecalls in all. The first was to find out about the holiday. I then spoke to my partner. The second was to confirm I definately wanted it at the £404 offered, pay and give the names of the first 3 travellers. The third was to confirm the 4th traveller.
  2. With respect, I would have happily paid a cancellation fee if I had cancelled although there is no reason at all to believe I would have done. I fully believed from the conversation I had with them that my holiday was booked and I was off on my hols to relax.
  3. I have tried to send you a private message as a lot of the content is confidential but your inbox is full :-| I am sure my GP would back me as he knows the full circumstances and has been very supportive. I shall try to re-send my PM later. Thanks
  4. Hi - thanks for your replies - I have checked the Information Commissioners Office website, thank you - it was very helpful. Yes - My GP was fully aware of the situation, which caused me a near breakdown, and the loss of these notes and the very personal medical info being sent to the IFA, who I knew personally. Would you have any idea how much compensation I should be asking for as I have no idea - I have never done anything like this before so have no idea of sums of money involved. Many thanks indeed
  5. So, if I am understanding this correctly, you believe that if you call a company to purchase something and then give your card details, then this is not a transaction and nobody is accountable for misleading me ??? I am confused !
  6. Thank you for taking the time to reply If they had stated that when I called to 'confirm' my booking then I would have accepted that prices change and it was bad luck. In that instance, I would have booked in my partners name and paid the £30 to change the name at a later date if it turned out he couldn't make it and my older child would be coming instead. The point is that I called to confirm, and gave my bank details.
  7. I have heard nothing so I am hoping that this has been put to bed. Thank you to everyone for your help - I couldn't have done it without the CAG
  8. My son suffered with black 'henna' (its not real henna they use, its black hair dye) and has a scar both on his back and on his arm. After a year they have faded considerably but he had to use steriod cream from the GP and Bio Oil regularly. You can still make out the shape of the designs though He has a couple of friends at school who also have scars from black 'henna' It makes me sooooooo angry. I hadn't thought about claiming as I don't think we could prove who did the tattoo anyway. I wish there was more info available so that nobody else went through what my son went through. The itching was terrible and he was petrified for a long time of doing his newspaper round in case he was allergic to the dye because, as the OP stated, it can cause you to be ultra-sensitive/allergic to certain printing/hair/other dyes in the future. Its an appalling practise and should be banned.
  9. Can I ask for your help on this one please?... I called my local First Choice branch to book a holiday which was offered at £404 for 4 people to The Balearics !!!!!!! BARGAIN ! I would be mad not to book it ! So, I said I would chat to my partner about the date and call back if we could make it. I called back 5 mins later and said I definately wanted the holiday, gave the details of myself, 2 of my children and said that I didn't know if my partner or other child would be coming. I was told that was fine, I could call back later that day to confirm the 4th traveller. I also gave my Debit Card number, at which point I believed I had confirmed my booking - after all, I don't give my Debit Card out for enquiries do I ? Anyway, I called back around 2 hours later to confirm the 4th traveller and was told the holiday had gone up to £580 and it has since doubled in price over the past few weeks :o:o:o I have contacted them by email to complain to their customer services but have heard nothing. Any advice please ?
  10. Please can I ask for your help? Scottish Equitable sent my private and confidential medical details to an IFA against my expressed wishes and have admitted in writing both by email and by letter that they were at fault. They have also lost ALL my the copies of my GP records going back some 30+ years. Again, they have admitted fault and apologised. This has caused me enormous stress as the IFA was someone I knew personally and did not want him knowing ALL my personal medical information hence the reason I took up their confidentiality offer and sent the medical records and medical part of the application form separately as stated on the form. The loss of my medical personal GP notes is frightening as I do not know who or where these are and they cannot tell me. As a result I have been taking Valium and Anti Depressents since January which is when it all happened. Its only now that I feel able to deal with it. I emailed them this week to say I am taking the matter further and they have replied offering an apology for both errors, which they agree were entirely their fault, and £200 as a 'gesture of goodwill and to show how sorry we are...' I don't know if I should accept the £200, ask for more or instruct a Solicitor to take it further. Is this acceptable compensation for the upset this has caused me ? I don't think so but would appreciate any advice anyone here can offer me. Many thanks
  11. Hi, I hope someone can help me On my bank statement I have found that Sainsburys have taken a payment from my account twice. Its for around £50 and was back in June. I called the local store who said to come down and they would refund my money, which I did. Then when I got there they said that they couldn't find it on their records and that it would have to go through Head Office. I left my number and was promised a call the following day. The call never happened and now I am really cross. I need this money. What shall I do next ? And can I claim compensation ? Thanks for reading this
  12. I miss the old title with the bit "...Oh yes they are..." Are you taking requests ?
  13. I'm almost disappointed that you haven't heard from them - I really enjoy this thread and don't want it to be all over just yet
  14. I'm looking forward to an update I've made sure I am alerted when posts are made on this thread - I don't want to miss anything funny
  15. Thank you DB I am grateful to everyone who has helped me with this - I wouldn't have had a clue by myself
  16. UPDATE Well, well, well ! Having sent off my letter from this site about my debt being Statute Barred I received this letter this morning from Global Debt Recovery... "Our client has completed a review of the above and instructed us to close our file. If you have any further enquiries you should send your correspondence direct to FV-1." The pessimistic side to me is wondering if they are now going to refer this elsewhere and come after me from a different angle but the optimist in me hopes that they will bu**ar off and leave me alone. Anybody have any views on this ? Cheers for reading
  17. Many thanks for your reply Dannyboy - Much appreciated I will update if I hear anymore.
  18. Hi I have sent off my letter re the Limitation Act telling the DCA that the debt is statute barred and have received this response... Your name is registered as non-paying of a recorded debt. To clear your address now telephone us on the above telephone number, and return the completed direct debit below to Global. It is our intention to issue proceedings within 10 days of the date of this letter. I have checked my credit report on Experian and I couldn't see anything on there, despite receiving an email saying there was an 'alert' on my file. There certainly hasn't been anything registered recently. Also, they don't have my current address anyway. What should I do ? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
  19. I reckon that is fantastic - PMSL - Your understanding of Offer & Acceptance is exactly as I remember it at college I might fancy paying you £12 to write to my DCA too I think your training offer represents excellent value for money
  20. Update ! I got a letter today (still sent to my previous address ) saying... "We strongly advise you to telephone IMMEDIATELY on receipt of this letter to discuss the repayment of this debt." I don't think so It says that their Client is FV-1 Still scared but feel a lot stronger for the support of this site
  21. Those phone calls are hilarious !!! PMSL here I once tried to sell a double glazing sales caller my surpluss veggies off the allotment. They didn't buy anything and they hung up on me And I always send my numerous hand delivered pizza leaflets to any company that sends me junk mail with a prepaid envelope - Yes... I really am that sad
