  1. Thanks for the replies. emmaf01 - I take it that Northumbria Water will have to go for deductions through court action? Graham
  2. Good morning Does anyonw know if a water company can instruct dwp to make deductions direct from benefits without my permission? The water company tell me that my arrears are a priority debt and will not accept my repayment schedule which has them a non-priority debt and therefore receiving a pro-rata repayment in amongst my credit cards, and provident loans. Any help I'd be very grateful Regards
  3. I contacted the forum a fortnight ago about requesting reduced payments and after the super responses (and Lefty's sticky) I'm going to bite the bullet too and take them on. First to cancel their optional service insurance, then to reclaim the £2.70's that have been charged and thirdly to request they accept a reduced payment until my circumstances improve. I may have missed a bit but am I stuck with the liability bit unless I can show a suitable contents insurance? i.s can I not just canacel that as well? Thanks again everyone. Graham
  4. Interesting stuff about this Brighthouse outfit. Does anyone know if they accept reduced payments for a period of time? I'm going to be skint for the next 6 months but should recover financially later in the year.
  5. Hello Rubberduck. Crikey!! So much you write I can relate to, especially the arrogance and cocksure attitude with Kensington. They really do wind me up too. I can't help but take it personally at times. Having gone through correspondence with them I can feel the same emotions welling up inside me. I'd love to take them on. My only issue is that part of my claim would go beyond the 6 years timescale that some to be a limit, plus I'm missing a statement to get a complete total. I'm hoping to get an answer this week on the timescale issue and I'm very keen to go with it. Can you leave it with me for a couple of days? Cheers. Graham
  6. What happens if part of my claim goes back before 6 years? I've read this ia timescale deadline of some sort. Regards
  7. Thanks for the reply HSBC is the bank Kensington Mortgage Compant the lender. To resolve the situation I was fortunate and grateful to Nationwide to support a remortgage for me, despite a credit rating that was vanishing before my eyes. Regards

  9. Good morning. I'm glad I found out about this site after watching Whistleblower the other evening. I have already submitted a letter to my previous bank regarding £700 for direct debit returns, but another thought has occurred to me that is a knock on effect from the above charges. Most of the direct debit charges related to my mortgage payments, which led to an arrears charge being made on my mortgage account. Yes, you guessed right. These assorted charges were compiling together and I was spiralling into a whirlpool of debt constantly being accentuated by charges. Is it possible to claim back arrears charges from my mortgage lender at £50 a go? Any thought would be appreciated. Regards Graham
  10. Good morning. Good old Barclays! My long overdue registration to The Consumer Action Group was triggered by last night's BBC "Whistleblower". Personally it came as no surprise to me as I have some knowledge of the gulf that exists between senior management and the actual world as it is going on down on the floor. I am trying to find an answer to my situation. About 6/7 years ago I fell into arrears with my mortgage lender. I made an arrangement with them but each month regardless of whether I paid my agreed amount or not I was charged £50 for month after month. Therefore I was paying the original mortgage repayment + agreed reduction in arrears + £50. At the time I considered the arrears charge to be excessive, but as it was mentioned in the schedule of charges that they sent to me I thought I had no option but to accept it. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Regards
