Ta for the advice. I will start reading it all. Just to say that my brother is a solicitor in Belfast and I have asked him his opinion: He says that " the only thing the bank can do is close my account" and even then he reckons this can be 'unlawful'. He said to open an account somewhere else first then start writing letters as per info on the internet. Thats why i'm here too. Another note: Last year I phoned my First Trust branch to ask about the 'refferal charges' on my account - i was told by the lady that "although i should not be telling you this, if you move all direct debits into the same date, only one refferal charge can be applied to the account for that date, no matter how many direct debits have went over-drawn!!" I moved them to a single date and its true!! Thanks again for helping. Cochise.
