I have received a letter back from barclays, stating that they are looking into the matter .... and expect to get back to me by 16 APRIL 2007. I don't think i'll be waiting for a reply, first deadline up tomorrow, so LBA being typed at the moment, ready and waiting to be posted!

Hi guys I,m a little gutted as i sent my first letter to Barclays before finding this site, i followed a template from moneysavingexpert and i requested the 8% interest as was suggested on that website. From reading your FAQ's and relevant posts, it appears this was not a good move and makes me look like i have no idea what i'm doing (which is probably a fair assessment at this time - but hopefully not for much longer). I believe I could have calculated interest at a rate of 9.9%, as i have a barclays additions account. As yet no responce from Barclays! ... what do you suggest i do now???? Would this essentially change the reclaiming process ... as people would no longer be able to claim all of there penalties back?!?

Hi sirleeoftinz Good on you, i am also following a similar route to yourself with the big 'B'. As i am a little new to all of this what is the ruling the banks are awaiting, is it similar to the OFT recommended limit on credit card charges? L J x

Hi Banatynes Would defo agree with sending off for the request for amount of charges letter - whislt reading the faq's, i think that your bank have to respond within a set time limit ... is it 40 days something like that. I am a bit of a horder so i had my statements dating back 6 years, i went through them ... was a lot easier and i didn't have to pay the 10 quid fee! Goodluck with your claim!

Hi Lena I'm very new myself so am also finding a few things confusing ... I found this site via another, 'moneysavingexpert' and on that site they have an interest calculator which works the interest out for you! handy for someone like me ... you are not claiming the interest that the bank has charged you... you are requesting the interest from the chatges that they have illegally charged you! Just wanted to say Hi ... I'm not very good on forums, so hope this ends up in the right place I have sent my initial letters to Barclays and First Direct, awaiting a responce...
