I realise that my stopping here doesn't help the cause but time is unfortunately not a luxury I currently have. Thanks for your response and good luck to all those continuing.

Had letter on Saturday saying they admitted no liability but would I like £3500! Well yes actually I would. I am very surprised at this as had had to shelve the process for a month or so as didn't want to proceed until I had the money for court fees. So have only actually sent the letter stating my intentions and the amount. I'm actually quite satisfied but before I commit and send the letter back accepting wanted to check if this is a trap?

I had a problem with this at first but I'm afraid to tell you it was me being a bit dense, it does it automatically. You've probably figured out by now though!

Having to do my spreadsheet again. Is there an easy way to calculate the days since offence column?
-
thanks both for that. You are quite right about not needing luck just patience and an understanding of the process. This thing all feels very much outside my comfort zone.

Statements taken form HSBC online. £4002 total over last six years not including interest of any sort. Q. If I add on interest etc it may take me over the £5000 mark, is this wise? Prelim letter sent "special recorded delivery" Friday 16th March. Royal Mail site shows letter signed for Monday 19th. Q. do I count the 14 days from the day I posted the letter or from the date they signed for it? wish me luck, nervous!

sometimes that last £4.80 is critical. It is shocking behaviour from the bank and not at all surprising.
-
I know just what you mean. I told my mum and dad about my claim and they nearly choked on their teeth when I told them for how much! They've only had one £10 fine in the last six years so I am completely alien to them. Can't imagine what my grandad would have thought, well I can and none of it would be good!

no of course not, just interested.

Nik, this is my blunder. Any advice? Posted my prelim letter on Friday to the address below after following from the HSBC thread. Have now seen a different page saying the letters should go to A Mr. Langdale at the Leeds HQ. Is this a major blunder? Should I send the same letter again tot Mr Langdale or leave well alone?
