  1. Thanks for your replies. The goodwill gestures they are referring to date back to 2003/4 and were apparently credited to my account at the time. No offer has been made just a 'bog off' letter so I shall continue the fight - let battle commence!!
  2. Have received a letter from Abbey today after having written to them twice with the usual apologies for delay in replying due to investigation etc. They claim the charges were applied corrctly due to insufficient funds and as they have previously crdited charges a a gesture of goodwill (about £40 against my claim of approx £1500) they are unable to agree to refund any further. Reason being charges due to insufficient funds - insufficient funds duw to charges being taken and escalating!! I am assured that a full investigation has taken place and that my file will be kept open for 8 weeks and if I am still dissatisfied I should read the leaflet enclosed (it wasn't) and take it up further with the Abbey Complaints Department. Should I continue? Is this just another tactic to try to make me give up? All comments would be appreciated as I am at the stage of being ready to send the letter before action.
  3. Thanks for that - I shall carry on regardless if I can get past all the delaying tactics.....
  4. I have been told by somebody that there is a July deadline for claiming bank charges from any bank. Has anyone else heard of this?
  5. Aldso want to add that I received a spreadsheet - not statements. Can I work on this??
  6. Have received statement of charges backdated to 2004. Letter says that if I have held the account longer than that ( I have since 1999) further statements will arrive 'in due course'. Is this a normal delaying tactic from them? Has anyone else had this problem ? and should I claim on what I have and claim again should I receive this statement or hold on hoping that it will turn up?? Also had to use a magnifier to read the print out as it was so small!! am I right in reading that the colums with minus figures are what is owed to me? They certainly do not make it easy but I guess none of us expected them to!!
  7. Am new to this site but glad to hear that people power is winning out against the banks!! I have recently gone bankrupt mostly due to spirally bank charges making it difficult to meet normal living costs - does anyone know if it is still possible to reclaim these charges as this situation escalated over several years
