  1. I have never had a cheque book, the disputed account was a bill paying one, my salary was debited 1st of the month and all bills paid, problems started when I retired in disabilty pension, first months pension was three days past the date for £1200 being debited, charges snowballed, I couldn't keep up with them, cancelled bill paying account and all direct Debits, kept on top of the DDs but couldnt keep on top of the bank charges. I didn't know I could put a claim into court, I admit to burying my head a bit.
  2. I applied twelve months ago and then again ten months ago, I send a "reminder letter" once a month. I will go check out the link you have kindly given me.
  3. I have been trying for two years to reclaim bank charges from BoS, I had an overdraft that has gone over its limit because of bank charges, I have refused to pay any money into reducing the overdraft as they are basically ignoring my claim for almost £5000, I got a letter this morning saying they were "sending a representative on the 19th May to my home" can they do this, is this a debt collector they are sending, do I have to open the door to them. I am 68 and applied under the financial hardship to reclaim charges, that too was ignored.
  4. Hello thanks for the reply, I read a very long thread last night and should have bookmarked it, it was about people claiming back charges that had been made when they had benefits taken. I wanted to show it to my pensioner group, some of them have been losing quite a bit of their benefit in bank charges. I will print off the link you kindly gave me though, thanks.
  5. Hello I read a thread last night and should have bookmarked it, it was on the banks not being allowed to take disability benefit to pay bank charges, can someone point me in the right direction,I have looked and checked the FAQ, i find the site a bit bewildering being an old codger.
  6. Hello, I sent the letter on the 26th, I suppose it is too early for a response, but thanks again.
  7. Thank you for the replies, I hardly slept last night but reading these this morning has made me feel better, will copy the template send £1 and send it recorded delivery, will update any response, thank you so much. Can I ask one more question please, am I entitled to not answer questions about who I am when on the phone.
  8. I received two letters today for someone else but my address, one is a Final Notice and the other is Formal Demand same name and ref no on both, I call them to say this person doesnt live here has never lived here and am given the third degree, I refuse to answer some of the questions as I dont know who the person on the letter is and I feel I am entitled to my own privacy, [am I right] anyway the woman starts shouting at me tells me I am not being co-operative and puts the phone down. What do I do. I refused to give her my name was I wrong in doing so. I have no debt so its not as if only the name was wrong and the debt was mine. I opened the first letter in error and my hair stood on end, I live in a small community and I know there is no-one of this name in the vicinity and the electoral roll backs that up.
