  1. I've just rung them - Lucy said that because it's a 'historic' (!) account it may take upto 6 wks for the statements to come through!! - so maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit and should w8 til the end of nxt wk. I asked whether they wd be able to provide me with my account details and they said that I wd have to take ID in to the Bournemouth branch where my account was held. I explained that I now live in Birmingham but they said there's nothing they can do about it. I rang the Bournemouth branch and was given the same response.
  2. I would like to claim from a Nat West account that I closed in 2001. I chucked out all the account details when I moved last year but then miraculously found the account number and sort code from a ripped cheque that fell out of my bin when I was changing the binbag!! (I had contacted NatWest and they told me that they were unable to get me copy statements without this info). I therefore rang them straight away (approx 4 wks ago) and they ordered copy statements to be sent to my branch for my collection. I have since lost the bank details and the statements are not yet at my branch. What should I do? - Is there any thing I can do?
  3. V. scary - especially when we owe them money they charge us 17.9% + but when we are in credit we only get peanuts for interest - they think they hold all they cards. Good Luck and keep us posted!!
  4. I don't know whether it's in front of my nose, but if I am unable to find my account details again - despite having already ordered the statements from NatWest when I did have the account details if they never arrive will I still be able to claim?
  5. I'm not very experienced in this, but I wd def kick up a stink. Unless they can prove that you have cashed the draft then they don't seem to have a leg to stand on. And from what I understand you can request for any default that they put on to be removed if it goes to court. I think you should keep going - they r just scare mongers
  6. Sorry, sorry, sorry!! I've now read the FAQ's and done a few searches and feel much better!!
  7. Best of luck!! - I've always said it was criminal that they penalise so heavily - I cdnt believe it when I read the MSE article about it. Anyway - hope we all get what we r owed and that it will make banks stop charging us in the future. By the way - do u know what to do if you get a charge when you have already filed your claim with the bank?
  8. Have you ever heard/read about anyone thats claimed from a closed account before? and how they got on ...
  9. Thx Alan. Have u paid court costs on the ones that u r claiming for?
  10. I banked with NatWest for about 12 years but closed my account in October 2001. I managed to find my sort code and account number (which I have now lost ) and contacted them. They have ordered copy statements to be delivered to my local branch for my collection (should be there next wk) for the cost of £5 but said that they can only go back 10yrs on their system. This wd still work out that I wd have 5 years worth of statements on for £5. I know that I paid loads of charges to NatWest but don't know whether it's poss to claim from an account that's been closed for so long . Can anyone help?
  11. Hi!! I've been viewing from afar for a little while now and thought I'd post to get some support coz am feeling a bit nervous now I wrote to Lloyds asking for my bank charges back and received a letter saying 'if I was unable to manage my account properly then may be I should look elsewhere'. I therefore gave them another chance by e-mail but received a reply saying that I knew the terms and conditions of the account when I opened it and that the banks final word on the matter is that I will not receive my charges back. So yesterday I followed Martin Lewis's advice and filed a court claim against them for £448 in charges (£408 from my current account and £40 from my credit card) + 17.9% (what they've been charging me) + £80 in court costs (which hurt my halifax credit card). I think the total is £608 or about that. Does anyone think I've any chance of getting my money back? Or have I paid £80 in vain?
  12. Hi, I'm claiming £448 plus 17.9% interest (total £528.19) from Lloyds, but they haven't even offered me the 50% good will gesture so I am following Martin Lewis's step by step advice and starting court procedures today. Fingers crossed
