  1. Hi we to had a visit from rossendales on friday, with yes exactly the same letter , he had called and wanted full payment of £636.00 with 24 hours. Everyone is correct on this forum, do not let them in, dont leave windows or doors open and unlocked. They cannot push past or put their foot in the door. if in doubt go the the goverment website it tells you on there what they can do and what they carnt do. i personally have not phoned them, they will not be coming in to my flat and they will not be levying any goods. They will get nasty and make threats, they cannot send you to prison only refer the case back to the council. Offer to pay the council direct at a level that you can afford to pay, the council cannot refuse your money. I have found all this out over this weekend. They can only charge you for 2 visits. Iv had Rossendales on my back before and belive me they WILL try every trick in the book. If you have a chain on the door put it on, we will be waiting for their call tomorrow as THEY WILL BE BACK. but guess what they aint coming in !!!! Best to write a letter to the council to advise them that you will be paying the council directly. Pay them a small amount that you can afford and stick to it. thanks for everyones advise on this forum you a all brill. michaela and john
  2. you have had the exact same conversation with orange as us, only we had worse. We have had the whole 18 month contract money taken from our debt card, from the card details that we gave them to take the missing 2 payments. This was done without our permission, we have written to orange and ofcom with no satisfactory responce. we cannot believe that this service goes on in our Country and its aloud to be got away with. Can anyone help????? cheers
  3. like a lot of you out there, we have had enough of excesive charges that banks and building societys are charging. this has caused a spiral effect with our finance situation, eventually forcing us to put our house on the market and cut our losses. The alliance and Leicester charged us in one month over £1400 thats not to mention the smaller charges every month for the 2 years that my husband and i had a joint account with them. this all started from us going approx £4.00 overdrawn on the overdraft, which we took out to cover overdrawn charges that they charged us. before we had chance to claim against them they demanded cheque books and ATM cards back, although a direct debit into the account was still going in and the bank was using this to reduce the overdraft we owed. We have received debt collection letters of a threating nature but not for a while, we have also not received any statements or conformation that the account has been closed. Any feed back would be appreciated. PS the amount we have paid in overdraft charges up to date is excess of £4000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
