  1. No more Mr Nice Guy then! Will take the claim to the court next week.... Thanks for your advice. I suppose at the end of the day we can always accept an offer plus our expenses when they see we are serious... Cheers and thanks.
  2. Being possibly a bit to nice to Barclays we gave them a call today. As we have sent 2 letters now the last being the 'letter before liable'. My wife spoke to them. She explained that the deadline that we had set had now passed and that we were trying to avoid court action and wanted to come up with a solution. The response was that they (Barclays) had set out a deadline of 14th August. They have been told that they legally had up to 8 weeks to resolve the issue. So if we were to start action then the issue would be resolved by the above date any way. I have read a lot and am quite confident that this is a load of MOO MOO dung. However, before we spend £110 that I could do without spending is what they are saying correct? Or are they as I suspect just trying to delay paying us the money back. Ironically the whole of our overdraft is due to bank charges and the bank are trying to get us to pay this back. They have called my wife this week chasing up payment. Are they allowed to do this? Any help on this matter would be gratefully received.
  3. Advice please guys... I know as the lady told me on the phone on Friday that I have been had for a couple of hundred quid in charges on my Student loans (both pre 98). Confess all for missed payments.. naughty naughty! They are going to send me a statement of the charges paid on the accounts.... On receiveing this do I then follow the standard process as per recovering of bank charges or am I opening a whole new can of wormies??? My instict is to follow the standard bank charges route? Help!!!
  4. This is to be honest a bit of an out shot. Whilst working away on the charges that I have incurred from my bank I had a phone call from the student loans company.... During this conversation I enquired at the amount of charges that they had placed on my account over the period. It now amounts to half of what I owe them. So I have asked for a run down of the charges, which they are going to send out, within 5 working days. Now I appreciate that this is a loan, but do the charges work in the same way? My thoughts are that this is almost the same as a credit card? Perhaps someone can let me know as it could be interesting.... or am I doomed to paying the whole lot back. I suspect that as it was a former government agency that they will be having none of this.... but always worth an enquiry.. Has any wise soul got some interesting info that can help me go forward with this or is this just a pipe dream? If it is possible any tips?
