  2. Hi all Just a quick query really. I have been advised that before any electricity provider can install an electricity meter, by law that company has to first become the registered supplier? Can anyone confirm if this is correct and also point me in the right direction as to where I could find this? I have tried to find this but to no avail? many thanks
  3. Hi, I'm hoping someone on here may be able to advise with a problem I am having with a reward card that has been issued through my work place. Basically we are paid rewards (£) for sales etc, which go into an account that we can use via a cedit card type reward card (QDOS). This card is a top up card which I have used to buy my train tickets through the past but have not used for a month or so as I am aware that there hasn't been any rewards going in for a while. Today I was called into the office by one of the senior managers in my work who had a letter advising that my account is in negative and that payment is required within 21 days of the date of the letter (27/4, which I have never received)? I have checked my statements that my manager has and they are correct in as much that I have made the purchases on them but I didn't realise there was so little funds in the account and this has resulted in me being in £192 negative. Can someone please advise whether the card company (QDOS, Grassroots) are right to honour payments from a top up reward card when there is insufficient funds and when there is no agreed overdraft facility? I was also wondering can QDOS force me to pay this back in the timescales they mentioned or at all and also can my workplace take any action against me like a disciplinery or dismissal as the manager has mentioned he is in discussions with HR? Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a little long and unclear in any way only this is making me a little anxious now as I have no way of paying this back other then the smallest of monthly payments?
  4. Thanks Shield, I'm getting stressed to the max....
  5. hi all, I was just hoping somebody here might be able to offer me some advice on my situation? I was in arrears with my Egg card and it was passed to DLC, the interest has been frozen and i am currently paying them £60ish a month. Unfortuneately last month i ran into some hardship and was unable to pay this, and although i will be able to get a double payment made this tuesday (for last month and this month) they have advised me that Egg are pushing them to get a charging order against my home. Is this possible without my consent? What can i do? And my other concern is that i am currently going through an application to join the transport poilce as a PCSO (at the final security vetting stage) and am concerned this would cause problems? I am hoping that somebody could possibly clarify what position i am in with regards to this and what rights do i now have? The debt is about £5400. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Hi all, Not sure whether this should go in here as it is not exactly regarding parking charges but it is a parking issue so here goes.... Basically i was just wondering whether somebody on here would be able to confirm whether having a dipped curb in front of my drive automatically (by law) gives me right of way/access to my drive? I have a terraced house which has a drive which fronts on to the main road and once again low and behold some T**t has parked directly in fornt of it blocking my car on the drive. Knowing the vast amount of knowledge shared on here I was hoping somebody might be able to advise me. Many thanks John
  7. Finally managed yesterday to get my prelim letter sent off with a schedule of charges and it all added up to £2,340.00. I'm feeling much more confident after reading the success of some of the guys/gals on here too.
  8. Thanks mjanet. So this means I can use the Excel spreadsheet in the bank templates library then?
  9. you can find all the relevant letters here in the bank templates library, http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=33 also have a read around the FAQ section http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=5 as almost everything you need to know is explained there. hope this is of help to you. Good luck and Welcome.
  10. I sent the general DPA request letter from templates with a £10 cheque, I then received a letter advising me that what I had requested was not a DPA request but they would send them out free charge. They returned the cheque and statements arrived about a week later.
  11. Have had some personal probs so have not been able to progress my claim till now. Have added up my charges and am looking at £2405, can someone please confirm exactly what the schedule of charges is that goes with the prelim letter? Is this the Excel spreadsheet or shall i just do a list of charges with dates? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but my head is in the shed at the mo and i just need to try and get this done (correctly) sooner rather than later. Any help is very much appreciated.
  12. Received my 6 years worth of statements yesterday (took from 21/4) and have had a quick look through today, it looks to be around the £2500 mark. Will do a proper count and send off the preliminary letter ASAP.
  13. You lot have me on the edge of my seat, it's better than Big Brother... I am waiting for my statements from barclays now so you could possibly be about to give sign for the flood gates to open when it all goes your way. Good luck and here's an early WOOHOO!!!
  14. SORRY! SORRY! SORRY! Am still trying to get the hang of this. (technophobe)
  15. Following my DPA letter sent 21/4/2000, I received a letter from Barclays yesterday stating how they are under no obligation to advise me of any manual interventions on my accout blah dee blah, etc, etc, etc, however they will send out a copy of statements dating back to April 2000. They have also sent back my £10 cheque as they claim this is not needed (If only they were this efficient in handing money back when facing claims). Would I be correct in thinking that by Barclays not advising me of any manual interventions then this this could work to my advantage if this actually goes all the way to court? As appropriately stated by a certain famous dance goup: WHAT WE HAVE HEAR IS A TOTAL LACK OF RESPECT FOR THE LAW. Power to the people, BIGWIG
  16. Bit of a newbie on here and was just wondering if anyone has actually gone to court against Barclays, if so what was the outcome? thanks
  17. Started the ball rolling this morning by sending off the DPA letter for statements/charges for the last six years, I must admit I'm starting to feel a little nervous now though! The one thing to keep me going is the fact that there must be a good couple of grand there that would come in real handy right now. Fingers crossed, Woohoo!! Any words of wisdom or encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Power to the people and good luck to all!!!!!!!!
