Some of you people make me laugh. I've worked for a retailer for nearly 4 years and at least once a week, i have to deal with customers who dont know the difference between a laptop and a blender trying to argue the case of what they are entitled to. If there was no partition, you would not have any way of recovering your HD. The reason it is partitioned is because it is easier that the discs (even though you can still make your own discs). If you are not sure what to do, Comet staff are more than happy to try instore for you. If you are cover with their fantastic Total Product Cover. You now qualify for Comet's new IT specialists Dept called Comet On Call. Out of all the companies i have worked for, i have never worked for a more professional company than them.

What are my actual rights regarding a faulty item??
prometheus1979 replied to jameww's topic in Comet
Unfortunatley, the manufacturer's warranty is only a replacement when it is no longer economically sound to repair it. Sale of goods act also states that a retailer has the right to prove whether the item is beyond repair. So i wouldnt really waste any time writing to comet head office because they will just tell you what i have just said.
