  1. Hi, Once again thanks for the swift reply. Its good to hear that there's another option. I have to admit to being intimidated by the large banks and their clout! I'll keep you posted too. Regards, jly6
  2. Hi, Thanks for your swift reply. It can be quite overwhelming taking on the big boys. I have already put in and won a claim against smile. However, they paid up after the second letter. I don't imagine that NatWest will be as easy. I'll keep you posted. regards, jly6
  3. Hi, I sent my 1st letter to the NatWest and got a reply before their 2 weeks are up. It says: Thank you for your recent letter regarding the fees aplied to your account. We are currently considering your claim. Given the work involved in assessing your claim we anticipate that we will be in a position to repond withing 6-7 weeks, but will endeavour to do so sooner if we are able to. Is this just a ploy? Do I still follow the procedure and send my next letter as planned? I also have a loan with NatWest, can they legally offset my claim against it? Thanks jly6:|
  4. Hi, I've won! I sent 2 letters to smile requesting £811.00 (which included overdraft interest & protection insurance). On the 26th Feb I got a reply offering a refund of the charges applied to my account of £745 (not ncluding overdraft & insurance interest) 'as a gesture of goodwill'. This had already been applied to my account. I'm as happy as Larry and will accept it. Now its time to take on the big boys - NatWest & TSB. I've donated 5% off my win to the web site as a thank you. I reckon I'll need a lot more support when I take on NatWest. Thanks for all your suppot, Regards, jly6

  6. Hi, This is my first post to this web site. I've been looking through the various sections and I'm amazed at how much we all get ripped off. I've incurred charges from 3 banks; smile, NatWest and Lloyds TSB. I decided to start with smile and see how I go from there. I've chosen this as I opened it in 2006 and have all transactions already. I must admit its quite a scary thing to take on a large bank. jly6
