  1. most definately agree, its scarey to think about the amount of money i have given them for what seems like to me for free over the last 9 years or so. time ti try and reclaim back the OSC that they have happily took off me, nothing ventured nothing gained.
  2. cheers lefty, i had a feeling it was total smelly stuff LOL,they tried their hardest in not getting me to cancel the OSC, but i was standing fast as i knew you guys on here would always come up with the goods on whats right and whats wrong.
  3. well went into my local brighthouse store today and cancelled the OSC on my account, after a bit of a lengthy discussion with the manager in the shop she told me - that as i have now cancelled my OSC and if anything goes wrong with any of the items which i still have from them they can charge me for the pleasure of servicing them !! is she right on saying that or is it another brighthouse management ploy to make the customer think they are keeping the upper hand ?
  4. excellent. i think i will also send a letter , it does no harm to try.
  5. ah, how did you word the letter for claiming back your OSC ? apologies for being nosey, but extremely unhappy about being charged this un-necessary charge. will certainly be monitoring your progress, good luck. pete.
  6. apologies for this question but i have searched this section ( brighthouse ) and cant seem to find what i am looking for. is it possible that you can claim back the OSC payments back ? as an unfair charge made by them, i am asking this question first before i tell them to cancel the optional service cover, i have been in the shop many times moaning about it and it was never said to me that it could be cancelled , i was always told that i had to have the OSC or i would not be able to take out an agreement. please accept my apologies if this question has already been covered,if it has could you point me in the direction of the thread. many thanks pete.
  7. well its been a while since i updated you all on whats happening. sent off the prelim letter, got a reply back from those nice efficiant people at halifax, telling me to bog off, well words to that effect anyway , a simple standard fob off letter , if im not happy etc. just printed off the LBA , sending it off recorded delivery tomorrow am, im wondering with this test case going on and everything , will they defer the claim or do i still carry on and attempt to take them to court if they do not respond with a full offer of refund ?
  8. after i send off this letter for to ask for my money back how long do i give them to respond, is it 14 days ?
  9. cheers mate. they go back till january 2001. didnt get any other documents with regards to the consumer credit agreement.
  10. well just an update on whats happening with those friendly people at the halifax. sent off the letter requsting the statements and waited the usual 40 days, recieved a letter from them in july saying that they have been inundated with requests for the statements and they will try and get them out to me in time, then i recieved another letter telling me that they will fight any claims etc ( a usual fob off letter ) i just ignored it as i was still waiting for the 40 days to be up. to my amazement i got the statements on the 40th day that they had ( monday gone ) just wrote out the letter that is in the templates library requesting the money back that i believe they owe me, i wonder if they will be as efficiant in dealing with the request as they have in getting all the statements out in time , i doubt it but you never know LOL
  11. and thats what i dont want to do,definately dont want to make no mistakes, after all i am fighting for my money. you lot all deserve a pint , thank you kindly for making me feel welcome on this site. just pleased i found this site. will start spreading the word on the other sites that i am on. keep up the good work.
  12. i hope so too, but however long it takes means it earns me more money in interest from the courts , should it get that far ! which i am sure it will.
  13. i know i have a long way to go compared to some of you guys, but looking forward to the fight.
  14. wonder if i can work out how much the ink costs LOL,or try and charge them 39 quid for a letter to see how much they like it. this forum is great,a real beacon in a gloomy situation of taking the banks head on.
  15. i dont see why we cant, after all the such nice great charismatic people at the banks charge us for everything. will get pettty with them and charge them for the postage on the correspondence LOL, but will only charge actual figures ,unlike them LOL
  16. checked the account today to see if it was right that they only took the 1 charge off me, to my disbelief they took all 3 out of the account, phoned up customer services again and told them the situation from yesterday with the name of the person that i talked to, they put me on hold then came back on the phone and told me sorry but it will take 4 days for the action to be stopped, after another 5 minutes of discussion with the advisor he offered to phone the head office to speed things up , yet again on hold, was promised that the money would be back in the account in the morning. i am looking forward to tomorrow morning as i really do like to speak to customer services, when i get the statements back and see how much they have took off me i should charge then for the phone calls as well LOL.
  17. good luck cazza, folowing your post with great interest so i knw what to expect an what to do next.
  18. well printed the letter out and took it down the local branch, the customer services assistant looked at me like i had 2 heads and said that there is nothing we can do in the branch ! told me to phone the customer services, so off i went back home phoned the customer services team, they were more helpful than i could imagine, they dropped 1 of the 3 charges as soon as i explained the circumstances, then after another 5 minutes of talking she went off to speak to her manager, came back on the phone and dropped another charge, so that wa 2 of the 3 charges i got dropped, i still wasnt happy about having to pay the £39, but she explained to me that there was nothing else they can do. i also sent off the request form off to the head office today registered post so the closk has started to count. thank you for all advice already given.
  19. had a look around the forum, have seen that a few of the members have been able top go back further than the 6 yrs. i could be facing a problem though.- got married 4 yrs ago and changed the account that i had then to a joint account, would i still be able to claim the charges back from the account before it was made into a joint account ?
  20. i certainly will, how far back can i go for the bank charges ?
  21. ok will do , first thing monday morning when they open.
