hi all. we have decided to build an extension, and have applied to the freeholder via their agent. got the reply back today and while i dont mind the fee for agreeing to let us build the extension which i think is quite reasonable, they also want to increase our ground rent,(from £20 - £45 i know its not a lot but its the principle) ive checked my copy of the lease, and there is mention in there of the amount to be paid until the end of the lease, which has approx 970 years left, but no mention of increases. the question is, can they insist i pay the increase for the building of the extension or are the agents just trying it on. the extension is to make the garage into living accom and build above it so its not actually taking up any more land. thanks
