  1. Having received an offer from HSBC in the week of £700 - to which I wasn't even going to respond I received a Judgement for Claimant letter from the County Court ordering HSBC to pay my claim in total!! Whoop-whoop!! I'll keep my excitement contained until such time as I see the cold hard cash in my account - it will pay towards reducing my over inflated overdraft if nothing else.
  2. I finally got through to the County Court who confirmed that HSBC haven't defended the claim? I've filled in the 'Request for Judgement' form and am handing it in today...............I'll keep you all informed.
  3. Cheers Lat, they're either cheeky or ignorant of the fact that I'm taking them to court.......................probably both!8)
  4. Thanks Lat, I guess it pays to make sure.................... Another question, I've just received another £25 overdraft charge for last month, beariing in mind the stage of my claim, how do I go about adjusting the figure? Kind regards Trapdoorsally
  5. Hi Lat, I'm a little confused.................... I printed 3 copies of the breakdown of charges including interest and attached them to each of the claim forms that I handed in at the county courts? 1 of which will go to HSBC, the court will keep the other and one was returned to me, should I send further copies? I've had no contact from or with the solicitors. regards Trapdoorsally
  6. Hi Guys Filled out my claim form and handed them in at my local Crown Court, received my papers back yesterday, they were served to HSBC on March 30th, giving them until April 13th to reply! If they make an offer, is this usually over the phone? I don't remember giving them any phone numbers in which to call? It's slightly irrelevant as I won't except their offer, but in any case it would be nice to hear them offer.
  7. Yeah will do Pieman, Handed in my claim on Thursday last week, just noticed that the payment has been taken...................looking forward to hearing from the bank now. I'll keep you informed.
  8. Hi Guys, posted my LBA on the 6th, I actually received a reply from good old Colin Langdon on the same day asking that I send another letter with a list of the charges detailed within and a total - annoyed me even more that this was quite obviously an automated reply as all of the information that he asked for was within the prelim letter, I'd also attached it to the LBA anyhow and so there we are, at least it means that my letter has been processed, if only through the first channel..........next step THE CLAIM!
  9. Yeah I'm hoping that I've got ahead of those who watched watchdog in the week as well, the banks may as well just start paying it all back without the need to mess us all around, those that don't yet know that they can claim these charges back soon will!!
  10. Yeah that's right, March not Feb - having pointed that out I was so paranoid that I thought I should check which date I'd put on the letter just to make sure - thankfully my sanity isn't too questionable!! Cheers GMM
  11. Yes thanks pieman, the preliminary letter was sent on 20th, I've already written my lba ready to send on the 6th of February. It's quite exciting.......................... Please do keep calling back, I'll keep you informed as I go and you can continue to feild any questions and calm any anxiety I'm feeling. Cheers again guys
  12. Yes the interest that I wont be adding at this stage (you just answered what appears to be a confusing question) until the claim is filed (then added by the court). I'll send the letter tomorrow and start the ball rolling. Cheers Lat
  13. Cheers Lat All done, worked out the total claim of £728 + £130.54 interest, totalling £858.54! Closer to the grand mark than i thought. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I now send my prelim letter allowing them 14 days in which to reply before I send the letter before action (assuming that they do not respond positively to the initial letter)? From when do you start the 14 days, from the date you write/post the letter or do you give them a couple of days from then? Sorry for being dumb! Thanks once again for your help in the past Lat....and Pieman.
  14. Cheers guys, I've received all of my statements now and will proceed with the task of totalling my claim...........I'll keep you posted.
  15. Hey Pieman, thanks for remembering me, I have started to receive my statements through the post having intially received a nice letter from HSBC stating that they weren't going to take payment for the copy statements. I did tot up the charges from my online account which totalled around £750, I must admit I was a little dissapointed at first as I thought it would be £1000 at least - nevermind. I'll arm myself with the highlighter once all of the statement arrive and in the mean time read through the next stage. I must admit I'm a little confused by the interest that I can charge but this will hopefully become clearer once I do some more reading. Thanks once again and I'll keep you posted.
  16. I guess it makes sense and would save a few trees, I'm impatiently wanting to know how much money I'll be claiming for - maybe I'll use my Sunday evening for this, thanks Lat
  17. No worries about highjacking the thread, a few friendly bumps for me! It's nice to hear peoples musical preferences, however I cannot claim to be a Slade-ette!! Thanks to you both for for the advise, I did start looking online at my statements but it's a pretty long-winded process and non userfriendly............although I should probably persevere.
  18. Thanks pieman. However having laughing my rs off at your reply of 'go for it girl' I thought I should point out that I am actually a bloke, my username though misleading comes from a nickname given to me by one of my mates when we were travelling a few years ago - I can't remember why, I think it's just that he's a little on the odd side. Anyhow thanks for the advise, please keep looking back for my updates and try to answer any of my questions. Laters
  19. Nice one pieman, been watching you thread carefully for a couple of weeks. Enjoy your money
  20. Hi Guys I thought that I should start my thread up, I've been reading as much as I can on this site and although I'm not 100% sure of everything I'm sure I'll get there ingood time. It's actually amazingly satisfying to be claiming my money back from the bank and I would like to thank all of you for providing me with the ammo (including confidence) to take them on - it's always annoyed me how much power they seem to have had over me as a customer in the past - this may just be the tonic to regain the upperhand! I posted my SAR yesterday (25/01/07).............here we go!
  21. Nice work beckxy_747, congratulations. I'm just starting my case against them, sent my SAR off yesterday, it's all quite exciting and great to here from yet another successful claimant. Enjoy the money
  22. Hi, thanks Boobaby. Sorry I wasn't clear in my intentions, in order for me to take a more active control of my finances in a bid to rid myself from debt I would first like to take back the charges that they have taken from me, I'm hoping that this will kick-start a more upbeat look at my situation and give me the confidence to not be bullied by HSBC. I'll take your advise and read through the website before trying to claim. Many thanks for your response Trapdoorsally
  23. Hi guys and gals, I heard about this site through a work colleague today having discussed with him the fact that HSBC had charged me £100 this month for 'arrangement fees' - no further discription is given on my statement and I'm yet to bother sitting on the telephone for them to palm me on to various departments before giving me their reasons as to what they've 'arranged' for me. I do hope you guys can help me, finances have been the bane of my life for too long and it's time to take some positive action to improve my financial situation. Ciao for now
