  1. Hi All of You, I,m at a similar stage, I had a letter 2 weeks ago offering me half my total of £6k. I wrote back with the letter stating I will accept the offer but will still persue all of my claim and advicing them that I will then go ahead with court action if I don,t hesr from them by 13/12/06. Well todays the day and I,ve not had a reply. Whats my next move now? please help.

  2. Hi All, Having sent the letter back advising the Halifax that I will accept the £1000 but I will proceed to claim the remainder of the full amount claimed of £5916, they have just written back advising me that they will offer me an increase to £2341.00 in full and final settlement of my complaint. Also if I remain unhappy with that I should refer my concerns to the Financial Ombudsman Service. What do you suggest? Please advise, many thanks.Donation looming.

  3. :p

Read the letter you receive very carefully - it's likely that they will ask you to accept the £1,000 in full and final settlement, which effectively prevents you from claiming the rest.

I'd suggest accepting it as a partial settlement (make this clear to them) and pursue the rest anyway. They will cave :)

Hi again, on the template letter it asks for a time scales, what do I put in there? Thanx.

  4. Had a call yesterday from a chap in the Halifax apologising for the charges explaining that is how the bank works. He then offered me a £1000.00 goodwill gesture!! to settle the complaint.I asked him to put this in writing which arrived today and all I have to do now is sign it to agree. (Is this really happening???? Like, dooooeee!!!!)

In the letter one of the paragraphs says,

"You have requested information on how we calculate our costs for dealing with these transactions. Please note that we are not obliged under the Data Protection Act to supply this information, and as it is commercially sensitive, I regret to inform you that I am unable to comply with your request.

Can someone please advise what I should do next, thank you so much.:o
