  1. You can't "claim" NI contributions as such.

     

    While you're working you would probably have been paying them direct from your wages. If you claimed certain benefits you might have received credits. What effect this would have on you should you return to your home country would depend on what country that is. Some countries (mainly those within the European Union) have arrangements with the UK that would mean NI you paid here would count towards your state pension in the other country.

     

    That's complex, though. If you don't mind telling us, what is your home country?
