hi just had letter from ruthbridge stating that they have traced me to this address, please contact us immediatley or an agent may telephone between the hours of bla bla bla. should i sit tight or send them a letter asking for prove of the debt which i am pretty sure is over 10 years old as i have been living abroad for the last 10 years!

I stupidly defaulted on a payday loan about 18 months ago, but i settled this debt about 15 months ago it was for about £260 the debt is showing up on my credit report as settled. I am looking to buy a shared ownership property with my partner (who has a good credit score). The mortgage i am after is for £43,750 with a 5% deposit.

My question is would i be able to get a mainstream mortgage with this on my file? (my credit score is just below average) any help????

Hi , had the usual letter from equidebt not sure what it is for.. i stupidly took out a payday loan 1 year ago it got passed on to dca which i paid off in full and have a letter stating that, so dont think it could be that? the only other debts i had was 11 years ago which was a credit card and overdraft. I have been out of the uk for 9 and half years and returned 2 years ago do you think they will be chasing me about these old debts.... any ideas???
