  1. they did exactly the same to me, had to wait forever for my chair and then asked for an extra £200. at this point my house insurers started legal proceedings and at the last minute the delivered my chair. i was in contact with a man called Ian Bell from Worcester trading standards who were investigating Yes Sofa for several reasons, i think you should contact him and let him know whats happened. well done for getting your refund, i also paid by debit card but left it too long so had no choice but to take the legal route - was well worth it though!

  2. check your house insurance, see if you have legal cover, if so give them a call. they were prepared to take yes sofa to court to get my chair that i waited over 6mths for, i also experience bullying off the manager, and believe me i heard every excuse under the sun as to why my chair was not made until 6mths after i paid for it. they even had the cheek to ask me for extra money 6mths after i paid for the chair, which was in breach of contract and so i reported them to worcester trading standards. the man there was very helpful and he says they have had plenty of complaints about them and they are being investigated under the enterprise act.

    my advice..... stay away !!

  3. Hi, we tried to cancel our order as it was still in production but with no joy, but we got legal help from our house insurance who were prepared to take them to court on out behalf. Worth a try if u got legal cover? It def helped push things along once they started receiving letters from our solicitor. We paid debit card so this was the only way we could get a refund, eventually we just got our chair delivered. But if they have stated a delivery time they are legally bound to deliver by then otherwise they are breach of contract.

    Hi

I wonder if I can get some advice from anyone please.

I purchased (ordered) a corner sofa in July 2011. The woman I spoke with was giving all the talk up about the sofa and that it would take 6-8 weeks and because of the time I am ordering some of them would be on holiday. I said ok.

However I specified I wanted this at the end of August, she said this would definitely be ready by then. On my reciept she put 8 weeks.

The second time I visited the store to put my first deposit down and to double check this is the piece I wanted, a man with dark hair walked towards me, I mentioned I spoke with a woman before and she would deal with it, as soon as I mentioned women he turned his back and went straight back into the office again, I found out his name was Mark (his needs customer etiquette classes!!)

I then started paying down on this sofa with my debit card, 3rd visit I asked a male in the store if I could have a date for the sofa as I need it sooner. There was another male in the store with a long pony tail sitting next to him. The man said to me if it is not ready we can turn this around within 7 days.

The next appearence in the office I wanted to see if the date has been set and I paid for my sofa in full, I was then told they were on hoilday and my sofa has not been made yet, they will call me.

I left it a couple of weeks after, I turned up again asking for the whereabouts of my sofa. A spoke to a woman who sits behind a desk and called the 'so called' factory and they stated I would get a delievery date the beginning of the week, this was a couple of week ago. She then wrote my number down and claims she would call me.

    Can someone tell me:

    1) If I am told my sofa has not been made yet do I have a right to cancel.

    2) If they have put 8 weeks on my receipt according to the date on the receipt if they go over that does this count as a breach of contract?

    3) Also I have read on some blogs that money cant be refunded if purchased by debit card is this right?

I hope someone gets back to me?

    Thanks

  4. If u paid by debit card like I did you will find it hard to get your money back, it is worth checking your house insurance documents to see if u have legal assistance. Without direct line I prob wouldn't have seen my chair so I would def recommend checking. It still wasn't easy and took months to sort out but I got there in the end, good luck!

  5. Just thought i'd let you all know that my chair did arrive last week, it only took 9 months and a lot of hard work. Glad we got a result in the end but I will NEVER use this company ever again. Best of luck to all you other people having problems

  6. You should be ok some of these people successfully got credit card refunds and those that purchased from the droitwich branch had 'els' on their credit receipts (another alias which went into administration last year) . Unfortuntly I paid by debit card so as u have probably read our house insurers are taking them to court for our refund. I hope u don't have the same bother as the rest of us !

  7. We heard that excuse as well about not being able to get the material we ordered but I'm sure that was just a delay tactic, sounds a bit dodgy to me. I wonder how many customers have actually received what they ordered?

    j

We were contacted by Yes Sofas on Tuesday 29th March to say our suite was ready and could we call in and pay the balance. this suite was ordered 2nd november 2010 chased up six times and cancelled 3weeks ago. We ordered it from droitwich shop call came from Birmingham ? Man said its been so long because they could not get the leather. Heres a funny thing suite only arrives when my credit card company returns my deposit from ELS/YES does the suite exist ??????
  8. Hi Renton I also contacted Ian bell my complaint was recorded but he said not much he could advise as I'm already taking legal action. Just wondered how u are getting on? Has your new sofa been delivered? I can't believe how many other people are having problems with this company!

  9. Mine also had a saggy cushion in the corner piece, Oliver told us that when our chair would be delivered the driver (who is apparently a qualified upholster too) would check it out, but seeing as I still don't have my chair it hasnt been sorted. Problem is now I have had it over 6 mths I can't do anything about it. Still awaiting court action over missing chair though!

Levigem, have you contacted trading standards direct?

if not I have the email address of a person at worcester trading standards who is looking into this company.

P.s I think I know who you are by the way.

Am I right in thinking you overheard my talking to a friend about the problems im having with yes sofa at a certain school christmas play??

  10. The snow affected delivery of ours 2 weeks before we had any snow! I have heard every excuse possible off these lot

    From A&J

We have also had problems with Yes sofa specialists, our goods are now into our 18th week of waiting after having had 4 delivery dates.

Latest excuse was the Libian crisis is affecting deliveries?????

The link to their website Quotes "English made furniture" so where does it come from????

  11. They are in a habit of falsey selling goods I am taking legal action for selling me a chair they cannot provide and now want me to pay an extra £300. I have been waiting 8 months for this chair to be delivered. I have also been in contact with an IAn Bell at Worcester trading standards he is also looking into this company. I agree they are bullies and very rude!

Yes Sofa Specialists at Droitwich are bunch of bullying people. I was told by salesman that it is Gucci sofa made of crocodile leather. When I pointed next time on delivery date about mentioning Gucci then he refused staright away and started shouting and used Abusive words. They refused accepting my recorded delivery letter at their head office. I will take them to court and have asked Credit card company to refund my amount under section 75 of Sales Good act.
  12. Done watchdog heard nothing back, got an email address for trading standards off another person on here who has complained about them but i not got round to emailing him yet but I will! Currently claiming on my house insurance for a solicitor to take them to court, it just ages with all the paperwork to go through ! I'm getting there :-)

  13. Very much doubt anyone will get their deposits back I can't even get my money back for a non delivered item I ordered last July! If you search this website for other threads relating to yes sofa and els you will be very alarmed and will probably wish u'd have gone somewhere else! Good luck

  14. Hi I'm having big probs with yes sofa, I'm awaiting delivery of a swivel chair which I ordered back in July. Thankfully my corner unit was delivered back in sept but I wanted the swivel chair custom made to match so I was told it would take 8-12 weeks for delivery. 6 months later and I'm still being fobbed off. For the 1st few months all we got was 'we'll call the factory and ring you back' - did they hell. Now it's 'yes it's been made but on the wrong colour, it's been sat in the warehouse with no ticket on it' . We were promised 2 weeks ago delivery by 15tj dec but now they are saying we will get in January because if the expected snow this week!!! We have asked for a refund on the chair but they just ignore us. Got a real bad feeling about this!
