  1. Bit of a long story. A comedy of errors from me, but blatant profiteering-money for nothing - Edit by Barclays. Here goes.

Banked with woolich since I was about ten- they were sold to Barclays. Had a £100 Overdraft with them.Great. I started work in a hotel, and was paid cash in envelopes (i.e didn't use the bank). Had also changed address, didn't bother telling them (none too clever I know). Anyway, the last letter I got from Barclays before moving, said "You are £75 overdawn, you have been charged 83p interest. Fine, I didn't think too much about it.

Six months later I got a job n a factory, and wages were to be paid into my bank again. I gave the employer my Barclays details, assuming I would be about £80 overdrawn. Not so.

When I got my first wage packet, I went to withdraw my rent - bear in mind I'd just been paid my first THREE WEEKS WAGES. You are -£250, available to withdraw £0. What the Edit!

Apparently, Barclays had sent a letter to my old address, saying basically, instead of being charged 83p interest, you are now going to be charged £22 every 5 working days!!!!

I couldn't pay that month's rent,. I told them, they didn't give a edit. Next month I just changed banks, as I had to pay 2 months rent and couldn't afford their ridiculous charges.

I cancelled the reserve edit and never used Barclays again. I have moved again since and they have caught up with me somehow. I am bombarded with letters/ phonecalls from Wescott credit something or other demanding about £400!

I only started with a £100 overdraft (which I didn't exceed) and instead of paying £25 interest (which would be about reasonable) I've already paid £600, and they still want more money for nothing!! When I say THEY its not even Barclays anymore, they've obviously sold the debt (Probably getting a bonus in the process).

I got an Experian Credit report recently - my credit rating? Very poor. I've never had a loan in my life, infact that £80 was all I've evr borrowed and now I can't get any kind of loan whatsoever.

I know this is a site for practical advise and rational responses,. edit No different to loan sharks.
