I bank with Nationwide and my mortgage WAS with Halifax. I noticed i had an unpaid DD fee on my Nationwide account and called them to find out what that was in relation too. It turns out that Halifax had requested a mortgage payment, even though i had cancelled my mortgage with them and transferred it.

Nationwide said i need to contact Halifax and claim it back from them.

I called Halifax and explained what had happened, they acknowledge that the mortgage had been closed when the request was put through. I was asked to get a letter from Nationwide saying that they had charged me and then Halifax will look into it.

I wanted to know, who i should be chasing the money from. As far as i am concerned Halifax made an error and they need to refund me, am i right in thinking that???
