  1. Hi All,

Just found your forum when I put Budget Insurance into google. Don't feel so picked on now.

To add to the many, I also have problems with Budget Insurance. Back last November, I found Local Broker, Sounded a good deal, I phoned up and gave them my credit card details for the deposit, and my savings account details for the direct debits. I received a cover note a day or two later, and the rest of the paperwork about a week later still. Filled the paperwork in and sent it off. They claimed a dd payment start of January, Then about a week later a letter was received cancelling my policy. I phoned and was told that I had not returned the paperwork to them with copy of my license, ncd proof and insurance decleration document.I tried to reason with them and explain that I had sent it, how else could they have my dd details ?.Their answer was that they could not help me.

I started insurance with another company as I need transport and my vehicle is parked on a public road.

A few weeks later I recieved a letter from Budget Insurance, As I already have all the insurance I require, And as far as I knew I didnt have any dealings with Budget Insurance, I filed it in the usual place for these things. When a second turned up and it was a slow day, thought I would open it, it claimed I did have a policy with them and owed them £30, No details just send money now. Thought it was a try on,So ignored it. Week or so later I recieve a letter from Creditlink Account Recovery Solutions Ltd, So phoned C.A.R.S up and asked who etc. they gave me a phone number but refused any other info. I phoned and a voice said "Local Broker" Now the penny dropped, I asked for proof of some form that I owed them money and I wanted it in writing.. Lots of please wait etc and don't think so's, Until I said I would not pay any bill that could not be proved and put the phone down.

I then found this forum on the net, Have since sent them a request for the aggreement etc with a pound postal order. Since then a letter has turned up, Says that, after plus this and minus that, there is a cancellation fee of £25 on top of the insured time, minus what I paid (they got that amount wrong) I now owe £30.

I know this is only a small sum, but if it worth them claiming, its worth me arguing.

    My questions are,

    1) I did not cancel, they did. No where on the paperwork I have, or on their website does it say they can charge if THEY cancel.

    2) I was given no warning that they had not received the paperwork, and can't see that they could have the dd paperwork without receiving it.
