I obtained a copy of my experian credit file and discovered an alleged historic debt to MINT going back 7 years. This is affecting my credit rating so I contacted MINT who immediately asked me a lot of personal questrions, including my address, to "try to determnine I was not the same person as their defaulting debtor". I am suspicious that if I give these details they will start chasing me actively for this debt which is not mine. I thought that an easier way to remove this entry was to point out that as the alleged debt arose over 6 years ago it was time barred so unenforceable. MINT have acknowledged having no contact from this person for 7 years but insist on maintaining this adverse entry. Does anyone know if one can force the removal of this entry on this ground? I have been referred to "The Crowther Report of 1971" which supposedly deals with this but am struggeling to find this.
Looking forward to some help, please!
