  1. I have had a few run ins with employers in my 25 years or so of work. I have never really enjoyed any job I have done. Just done it for the money.

HOWEVER I do find arguing with employers who try to take advantage highly rewarding.

    So

Are there any careers in HR advocacy - ie defending employees rights that do not require a law degree? Are there alternative qualifications required?

Finally am I too old at 45 to actually try and do something I enjoy to earn my crust?

  2. As above.

I am in a managerial position controlling in excess of 50 staff on nights. I am the night manager.

My line manager has told me one of the staff has made an allegation against me. I think it is a bullying type thing. Not that I am LOL. I have had probably half a dozen incidents with this guy basically not doing his job.

He is currently at the start of a disciplinary for not doing his job - and the allegation is I believe a defence mechanism.

My manager has told me HR will be investigating. However shouldnt I be told details of the allegation immediately?

  3. A long and involved story but the crux of the matter is:

I was unhappy with my employers behaviour in April of this year and tendered 1 months notice of my resignation.

My employer instigated a grievance procedure. This consisted of me and 2 otheres being interviwed. The other 2 were the MD and Office Manager.

ACAS were brought in to mediate. I asked to see the other 2 statements but was refused. I explained to ACAS that at no point was I refusing mediation but would prefer to see the statements. Once again this was refused. I then made an application to the Data Commisioners Office to see the documents.

At this point - August - my employer sent me a letter saying that as I had refused mediation they were now accepting my resignation.

    Can they do this?

I have already filed for the employment tribunal and ACAS are again involved to mediate.

Do I have a strong case for unfair dismissal??

  4. Snt my SAR in about a month ago.

Got a letter this am offering £390 with a breakdown of my Virgin ac with them but no detail of my mbna ac.

So i rang them up asking for the mbna breakdown. Chap said he would ring me back - and bugger me he did. Said that the 390 was the 20 quid charges minus the 12 that the oft had said was ok - well not quite but go on - so then he told me the total amount £800. I had already said i wasnt havin 390 in the first phone call and so he asked what would i be happy with?

Well I says I know I can get it all back and interest if it comes to it so im not settling for less than ALL my charges and I want a full brakdown just to mak sur we havent made any mistakes.

    And he said

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

    Whos ur daddy MBNA???

How do u like dem onions???

Cant believe how quick they folded.

Unfortunately this just reduces my balance but will be makin a donation as soon as I fettle Barclays cos Ive cleared that ac and i will get some cash so will DEFINITELY be kickin in a few bob!!!

  5. Sorry if this has been asked b4 couldnt find it anywhere

I have submitted SARS to Egg and Citibank

Egg have asked me 4 proof of ID

Citibank have asked for the same and sent me a form to fill in.

Do I need to do this or can I just refuse and tell them they have 40 days?
