  1. i am led to believe that only people resident in Uk can be issued a ccj. So it should not be a problem-as i live in asia. I know its cheeky of me ,and that banks are businesses I was just hoping i could get some sort of agreement to finish this overdraft because at the present rate (18 pounds per month) it will never be paid off. I may well go see the bank and see what they can do - but i dont expect much joy
  2. have had a lloyds current account for many years. I have a 850 pounds agreed overdraft limit -which is always used to the max over the past few years. In charges i pay about 18 pounds per month - which i pay - but ofcourse it doesnt decrease the overdraft. I have now moved to asia and want to close the account, and more importantly be able to stop paying 18 pounds per month for nothing. My question is if i visit lloyds ( i can do that when i visit in few months) and say i cannot afford to pay the 850 pounds overdraft or continue the 18 pounds per month will lloyds just close my account and thats it -all finished and not repay the 850 pounds. Ii could just disappear and not give forward address etc but i dont want to do that. I have paid lloyds monthly overdraft fees for years - will that help my appeal to close my account?
  3. Hello, I did get mail forwarded to me in asia -but only my mail. Did not receive anything regarding my father's pension. To be honest I have no idea what happened when the attempts were made for deposits into my father's bank account. I assume they were just returned to the pension company. I think if there was a major problem my bank would have contacted me as I had some control over my dads account -had also closed his account, and also have an account of my own at the same bank to this day.
  4. Thank you for your comments -much appreciated. To be honest this situation has been on my mind for some time. Also, I am returning for a brief visit to UK later this year which made me think that maybe I could be in trouble as regards fraud or similar on my visit. It had not crossed my mind that maybe my father may have had a death benefit payable after he dies from the company pension people. So maybe the company pension are happy with the situation as it is! Having said that, I still worry about not informing them, and I know I was stupid not to do so.
  5. 4 years ago my father died. he had his uk company pension -from a leading car manufacturer paid each month. After his death his pension was still paid into his uk bank account for about 5 months. I failed to inform his pension company of his death. I wrongly thought that when i registered his death with the registrar that somehow all his financial and official things would be cancelled. I then cancelled his bank account a few months after his death, but the funds there (about 1800 pounds) went to my bank account as I had control of his bank account (not power of attorney - just ATM/debit card etc) After my fathers death I retired and moved to Asia and have lived there since. I know I have been very very stupid , but I am worried that somewhere that i could be in serious trouble. I would pay back the amount but do not have that. Any advice is much appreciated.
