I was considering a lease purchase of camera equipment. On contacting the company I was getting equipment from they said they would get the finance company to contact me.

The next thing (NO phone call, email contact, anything) was an email saying my credit search had been declined!

I had not agreed to, either verbally or any other method to this search.

Can someone please tell me the law regarding this and what I should do as I am un happy that a 'footprint' for this and a 'decline footprint' is on my credit file and can not be removed.

Thanks

First of all there is only a footprint on your credit rating, this shows a search was made but not the outcome.

Write to the finance company demanding they remove the search immediately, or to provide you with proof that you agreed to the search.

Ex-Retail Manager who is happy to offer helpful advise in many consumer problems based on my retail experience. Any advise I do offer is my opinion and how I understand the law.
