It is in one piece, recently fully reburbished/decorated AND a new boiler (of course). It's got another garage on the other side and a big garden shed too.

 

I'm going to sell up pay off debts, have a holiday (God knows I need one badly) and rent somewhere. That way I might have some money in my pocket once again.

Wouldn't you be better downsizing if you can, as if you rent you are just paying off someone elses mortgage.

True, but I'm not bothered really. If I have a mortgage then I'm only making banks richer.

 

I'm having a look around the area for something - sale or rent, but not bothered which.

I tend to look on a mortgage as paying myself something every month. Okay most of it I'm actually paying in interest to the bank but some of it goes towards increasing the amount of equity I have in the property.

Or if you like the house and the area - maybe someone could buy as an investment with you being the tennant - so they had a guaranteed income? less upheaval for you.

I actually just seen an advert on TV last night for a company who buy property from you, then you stay on as a tenant, you get 100% of the market value with min 80% up front apparently. You then stay on and pay rent. Might be worth looking into, unless of course you are looking for a clean break and change of scenery.

I looked at those, but they only guarantee that you can stay there 6 months, and then you are out...generally.

 

There was a BBC report about it.

 

No, I think I'm going to sell up, use some of the dosh to do the other house up and sell that too, then go and work as a petrol pump attendent or similar.

Personally I dont think renting is such a bad idea .

You pay you weekly or monthly rent and therefore have the security that if something goes wrong with the house it is not you who needs to foot the bill or make an insurance claim.Also if something goes wrong ie jobloss,relationship breakdown etc. you simply hand in your notice and relocate.

That's what I'm after, plus I only have to do the job I'm doing (and I got bored with this after 10 years, five years ago), because it's the only thing I can do that brings in enough money to pay for the house(s), so without them I'm free to retrain, or simply go and be a petrol pump attendent.

 

I'm fed up with earning a decent wage, and always having no money.

 

This seems to solve all of those problems.

 

Plus, with the luck I've had with houses, I want it to be someone elses problem WHEN they go wrong.

 

I've had 2 boilers go and flood the house, the last one burnt part of it too, the electrics went at one point and all had to be done again, the list is endless over a 7 year period, so I think it might be for the best.

Totally with you with regards to never having any money just for the sake of paying for a house.

Renting is the thing to do in my opinion and the thing about having a mortgage ?? Well I'd rather have the security of being able to pack up and go and that repairs and all that comes with it wont affect my wallet.

As for selling your house(s) Dave ,I'm sure going by the description,and providing your boiler probs (lol) have been sorted you'll have no probs !!;)
