My daughter is renting a flat - some sort of annual lease.

The first year is just about up, and the landlord has increased the rent. I'm sure that this is allowed under the terms of the agreement.

Unfortunately this does not give my daughter long to find an alternative flat. She doesn't want to stay where she is at the new rent. Any ideas what her alternatives / possibilities / rights are?

Thought that I was probably not giving enough information

What more do you need to know?

It's a furnished flat, daughter thinks that it's a year at a time, they certainly signed a lease for a year in the first place. She wants to get out asap but doesn't want to be landed with paying the rent for a year if they can't find somewhere in 2 weeks time (thats how much notice of the rent increase she got - I would have expected longer)
