Ulsterbank + RBS

Hi I just joined because I've been reading some of the posts and I can see that there is a lot of useful info here about those money grabbing $%&^%$$% in the banks

Just checked my bank statement today and they've charge me £300+ this month!!!! The most irritating of these is a £30 fee for a £2.50 paypal transaction which they refused to pay .... twice ... £60!!!

 

Lets hope the forums a peeps here can help me out

Hi all,

I intend to claim back the extortionate amounts of money this bank has been raping me for. To set the scene - this month I had 3 paypal amounts "bounced" -- £2.50 for which I was charge £30, £13.48 for which I was charged £60 and £64 for which I was charged £60. Each of these was represented by Paypal and "bounced" again for the same amounts totalling £300... and they wonder why I am overdrawn!! This isn't a typical month but it is the straw .....

 

I've read the FAQ's (skimmed) and am excited about some of the posts I've read, it looks like the folks here have been doing an outstanding job -- Well done guys ... if only i'd known sooner.

 

As it states above my bank is the Ulsterbank, which is based in Belfast and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Scotland (from what I can tell), and I'm not sure how different Northern Ireland law is from the rest of the UK. I have asked for and received a history of bank statements from the bank (for a £10 fee) but have yet to look through them and proceed. But now its time for action and I hope the peeps here can help me through the process.

 

(P.S. I use to use a pseudo name called skintnomore, but it doesnt really suit me now )

I did a search for Ulster bank and most of the threads that maybe helpful can be found here http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/other-institutions-6.html if you search from the top of the page it should bring up more for you, it might also be an idea to put a post in there as not many know about Ireland in here.

Hello Skintagain, welcome to CAG.

 

Before you start the process of getting your charges back, please have a thorough read of the FAQs (there’s a Step by Step guide here too). You should print both of these out to refer to, so as to avoid having to ask basic questions later. Our aim is to make you aware of your rights as a consumer, enabling you to fight back against unlawful bank, credit and store card charges. In the website you will find information on how you could get your money back

 

Then look at other threads in your bank’s forum, so as you know what you can expect to happen.

 

You need to spend 2 or 3 days gradually getting your head round everything. If you find a forum/thread/post of interest, save it in your Favourites, so as you can always find it easily.

 

There’s a lot to take in, but it’s time well spent and will ensure that you succeed in your claim without problems. Remember it’s not a race, don’t rush, just follow the guidelines one step at a time.

 

Take your time and have a good read around this site. Then come and join us in our forum. Here we can guide you every step of the way. Please remember, we are here to help you help your self.

 

When you feel confident that you understand the process and the various stages involved, start a new thread in your bank’s forum and post your progress and any questions there and you’ll get plenty of help.
