Hi - I have just joined and thought I would say hi - I have successfully claimed against Halifax at the beginning of the year and I am off to compile another claim. I am also in the position that wonderful halifax have taken all our benefit money in bank charges for the last 3 weeks    - I did a right of appropriation letter for this week - does anyone know if there is anything can be done about this?

Thanks all

Hi Gobby, welcome to CAG!

You seem quite familiar with the reclaiming process so the best advice I can give you at the moment is to start a thread in the Halifax forum.

Unfortunately, the banks have a nasty habit of ignoring the Right of Appropriation letter - usually claiming they didn't receive one (even when they're handed in at the branch in person!) And remember, you should send a new letter in every time a payment is due to go into your account.

One of our site helpers (Steven4064) has also started a thread in the Halifax forum today precisely about this kind of behaviour from the banks (e.g., taking benefits to pay for their charges) - so you'll have some great advice and support along the way with your claim.

Best of luck :D
