I have had a reply from my bank regarding paying me back,they are saying they are going to use the money to pay off my debt to them,the acount is closed due to financial problems and i do still owe then money,can they use the money in this way,i think they can but am asking anyway.

Capital One and Bank of Scotland did the same thing with me when I won my claims. Don't know if it's legal or not. Hopefully someone can give you an answer.

When I saw your user name, and then the title of this thread, I had a very bad feeling:).


If you have a debt with them, that you are not disputing, then they can use your 'winnings' to clear the debt. It is a pain, but at least it will reduce/clear your dealings with them, and that can only be a good thing.
