Hi all. I am thinking of claiming my charges back from creation. I have a store card with them through Adams. I am currently over my credit limit with them by £170. I am paying them £60 a month and they are charging me £26.33 interest plus overlimit fees which means my balance is hardley comming down. I have filled in a form stating my income and what I have to pay out so that they will stop the charges but they declined my offer, so think it,s time to claim back what they have charged me over the years now! Is there a template letter I can use to ask for a copy of all my statements back please.

You certainly cannot claim back the purchase interest except the proportion attributable to charges you can claim back. It depends what the service charge is for, but I suspect you can't claim that either.

The service charge you can claim back (probably) and you can charge interest on it at the same rate as the card. You can also claim back any late payment fees or overlimit fees or charges for letters they have sent you.

Purchase interest you could not claim back.

EDIT: As Steven states it depends what the service charge is for.

I am sorry for hijacking this thread, but its the same story wth me..

I missed one payment, well could not cover DD, called them to explain before DD went out, they got arsey, i said i would catch it up, but they have stuck loads of charges on top and are continung to do so.

Only I am totally lost on how and why i would claim back other charges apart from purchase interest.

Can anyone give me a laymens version of what to do.

At the moment I am being harrassed by tons of phone calls every day, they won't listen to reason and the added charges are making it impossable to catch up on any payment.

Hi rapstok. There is a letter in the templates library you can send them to stop harrassing you by phone. As for what you can claim I am claiming overlimit fees, late payment fees and the service charge, oh and i will charge them interest as they have done me. Sorry I can't be more helpful to you.

If you start you're own thread I'm sure lots of people will be along to help you.
