Hi guys,

Just a quick question - I had an authorised overdraft with HSBC, ams confused at what I can actually claim back. where it says in the letter;

" I calculate that you have taken £xxx plus £xxxx which you have charged me in overdraft interest for the sum which you have taken. "

- Does that mean I can claim back the interest which they have taken for my authorised interest because there does not seem to be any differentiation between these interes charges and ones I had for going over my overdraft limit. Please could someone help?

thank you!

Welcome to the forum!

It is not usual to claim the interst as it is difficult to calculate on the charges (and it would not be a lot anyway). You cannot claim interst charged on your usual overdraft.

All you can claim is for any penalty charges (going over your OD limit or returned DDs) and if it gets to court 8% interest on money owed by the bank.

All the best with your claim, keep us posted.
